Disarm you with a smile And leave you like they left me here To wither in denial The bitterness of one who's left alone Ooh, the years burn

Keiran loved the park. He loved to just run about and be a child. He knew where every bench was, where there was a secret pond in the wods, and the best places to be secluded from watchful eyes. He knew the ins and outs of the park, mostly since he had spent so many nights sleeping here. But his sister had promised that they could sleep in the shelter tonight, it was supposed to get cold and Kei had already caught a cold because they had spent the last couple nights outdoors.
The small boy raced through the playground, just laughing with a couple kids he knew from school. They were all nice to him and were extremely friendly. He always saw the looks of pity their parents gave him and his sister, but they were fine. They managed to make it day to day.
Though he became a little lonely when one by one they had to go home to eat dinner. Lily had promised to come get him by before sundown, but she was late. The small boy just sat alone on a bench, picking mold off a piece of bread so he could eat it. He probably shouldn't have stashed it away for so long, but he figured it was still safe to eat.
He just let his feet swing back and forth as he chucked mold pieces onto the ground, figuring birds might eat it. If not, it'd just become part of the earth. He broke off pieces of good bread and shoved them into his mouth, his stomach growling. It always wanted more from him than he could offer.
