Learn a Little Something [Jackson/Open to Juniors]

Class was just beginning as the students littering the halls began to flow into the classroom.  Silas taught one general level, and one honors level english class along with drama at Beacon Hills High, or at least he was going to be...he started today.  The teenagers came in, a mix between taking their seat or just standing around until the bell rang for class to start.  The amount of talking all at once irritated his sensitive hearing a bit, but he hid his discomfort.

His room was decorated with mostly snarky posters about paying attention and all that typical stuff.  His desk was very unremarkable with no real personal items.  Not that he'd had time to spice the place up yet.  He picked up a piece of chalk and began to write on the board just as the bell rang.  The kids who hadn't already, scrambled to take their seats right on time.  The words "Mr. Ragnulf" were left on the board when he turned around.


"Alright everyone, class is in session," he smirked. "Ive always wanted to say that. Seriously though, I'm your new teacher, Mr. Ragnulf. Please do not try and shorten or do anything else to it when you talk to me, I like my name the way it is." He moved his hand under his chalk written name as he said it and spoke light heartedly with his Scottish accent accentuating his words. He stepped to his desk and pulled out a clipboard handing it to a kid in the first row. "Write your names on here unless you want to be counted absent, last person put it on my desk," he walked to the front of the class smiling at his students.

"Welcome to classical literature, for real this time. No more busy work you can get done in ten minutes and then slack off like your substitutes were giving you...you kids are going to work in this class, especially since we are apparently two lessons behind where we should be.". Silas really hated to slacking type of subs. These kids were going to hate him with how much catching up he'd have to put on them. "Any questions before we get started?"

Jackson slunk his way into his English class, and he wished he didn’t have to come at all. He had the best grades he could possibly get, he didn’t allow himself anything less, and he didn’t see why they had to have a new teacher. Especially one that looked barely older than them. He took in the words written on the board even as he kicked his feet up on his desk easily, folding his hands behind his head in an easy, devil may care way, his expression unreadable.

He shifted a bit in his chair, even before he moved his hands to clasp them in his lap so at least whoever was behind him could see the board, as if they might actually want to pay attention. He sure as hell didn’t. The teen did actually listen in his classes, but there was no need for them to know that, especially since he would rather remain the uncaring jackass who just got by, at least to everyone who didn’t see his grades, that is.

"Alright everyone, class is in session," Mr. Ragnulf smirked. "I’ve always wanted to say that. Seriously though, I'm your new teacher, Mr. Ragnulf. Please do not try and shorten or do anything else to it when you talk to me, I like my name the way it is." He said, moving his hand under the chalk written name before stepping to his desk and pulling out a clipboard before handing it to the kid in front of Jackson. "Write your names on here unless you want to be counted absent, last person put it on my desk," The man said as he walked to the front of his class and smiled at them.

Jackson took the clipboard when the first kid was done and smirked to himself, signing his name with a couple X’s and O’s, might as well start off as a kiss ass too. See how the teacher liked that. He passed the board on just as he started talking again. "Welcome to classical literature, for real this time. Jackson raised his hand and didn’t bother waiting. ”Yeah, uh, Mr. R, are we going to do something interesting and from this time or are we going to go back before the birth of the dinosaurs for our reading material? Cuz if we are, I’d prefer if I left for that.” He said with a smirk.

Skyler heard the bell ring, and she cursed to herself as she realized that she was later than she wanted to be, and worse yet it was to English. Sure they've had a substitute for awhile, but still she didn't like to be late. She was just in the class when the teacher started to speak, and she looked towards him with wide eyes, you have got to be joking....

"Alright everyone, class is in session,"

That seem to snap her in place as she quickly took her sat in the first seat she could find. It was very surprising to her that it was the English class that brother would be teaching, but then again she should have realized that with the substitute. She watched him, but couldn't truly see the board till the person in front of her placed his feet down.

"Ive always wanted to say that. Seriously though, I'm your new teacher, Mr. Ragnulf. Please do not try and shorten or do anything else to it when you talk to me, I like my name the way it is."

Skyler shook her head as she knew that her brother did in fact always wanted to say that when it came to teaching. Skyler rolled her eyes hoping to god no one would realize these two were siblings, and worse yet her brother had handed a clipboard to the row that Skyler was sitting, Silas--you ass.....

"Write your names on here unless you want to be counted absent, last person put it on my desk."

Skyler glared daggers at her brother knowing that he would make eye contact with her some time this day. Though her focus was placed on the clipboard as she just placed her name on there, before sending it to the person behind her. She listened to the boy in front of her making a fool of himself, and she shook her head knowing that now he'd be the least favorite of this class.

”Yeah, uh, Mr. R, are we going to do something interesting and from this time or are we going to go back before the birth of the dinosaurs for our reading material? Cuz if we are, I’d prefer if I left for that.”

Skyler gave a rough snort as she was fixated on her pen, she looked at the back of the boy's head not wanting to make a comment. She looked at her brother for a moment before a mischievous smile played on her lips, "you know I have to agree with him, Mr. R..... Though then again--most jocks like him are in the dinosaur age. So I think you should place in extra effort for his sake."

He noticed Skylar glaring the moment she started, but simply ignored it while mentally gears were grinding in his head.  Then, a young man decided to be a smart ass and ask a dumb question meant to get attention or just be a prick.  Either way the english teacher was not amused.  The other kids seemed to find it amusing as they snickered a bit.  A few more joined in after Skylar made her own comment.  Silas though for a moment, before deciding he could kill two birds with one stone on this one.  He smirked, crossing his arms, and leaning back against the board.

The jock looked like your typical entitled prep boy.  It honestly made him a bit giddy, he'd dealt with these kind of kids in his earlier years of high school, but now he wasn't the one at one of their mercy.  It was the other way around.  Oh this was going to be some fun.  He glanced over at Skylar giving her a look he knew would give her a hint at his intentions.

"Looks like we're lucky class, we have a rising comedian with us," the teacher motioned towards Jackson. "Which is good for Abercrombie over here, because he's going to need a career plan that doesn't require education. Or at least if he keeps this attitude he will. You see class I give a bi-weekly participation grade that I count as a test grade. Abercrombie here...just lost ten points from his first one."

He turned his head to look directly at Jackson with a smug grin. He walked right up to his desk and looked down, right in the other boy's eyes. "Now not only is this class a graduation requirement, but I can only assume you'll need something to bring your gpa up since you clearly suck at history from that dinosaur comment." He reveled in the muffled chuckles that got him from a few students.

He stepped back turning his attention to the entire class again. "Now don't think I'm some up tight jerk who counts off for no reason, behave and do your work and we'll have fun. Just ask.." he walked over to Skylar put a hand on her shoulder. "My dear, sweet, wonderful sister Miss Skylar Ragnulf. She lives with me." He said it in a tone that was obviously over exaggerated and meant to be taken as joking and embarrassing. He let her process that for a moment along with the rest of the class.

"Okay that's enough embarrassing students for now!" he smiled at the class walking up to the board. He wrote "Annabelle Lee" on the board. "Anymore questions before we start today's reading?"

Jackson wished he didn’t have to take this course. He knew most stuff, and honestly, he wished he could take the whole class/teacher equation out of it, and just take the course online. But that would mean just as much time in school, and extra time out of school to do his work, so it really wasn’t worth it. but then again, if he took the online class, he wouldn’t get to cause trouble, as he was so quick to do shortly after class began, and the dumbass clipboard had passed his seat. He had just finished speaking when he heard someone behind him speak up, and he knew her to be the same girl from the pool area not so long ago, his lips turning up into a further smirk of amusement. "You know I have to agree with him, Mr. R..... Though then again--most jocks like him are in the dinosaur age. So I think you should place in extra effort for his sake." Skyler said, and he rolled his eyes, laughing outright, uncaring as to his rude personality at the moment. ”And what age are you from, the time when dinosaurs hadn’t even come to be, yet?” He returned snarkily, his tone lacking true bite, showing he wasn’t annoyed or angry in the last. It was his personal job not to let anything get to him, and he did so expertly. "Looks like we're lucky class, we have a rising comedian with us," Mr. Ragnulf gestured to him, and Jackson chuckled again, snorting in derision as he held back from laughing outright once more. Might as well let the guy finish what he was saying.

"Which is good for Abercrombie over here, because he's going to need a career plan that doesn't require education. Or at least if he keeps this attitude he will. You see class I give a bi-weekly participation grade that I count as a test grade. Abercrombie here...just lost ten points from his first one." He said, turning his head to look right at the co-captain of the lacrosse team with a smug grin, striding up to his desk and meeting his gaze evenly. "Now not only is this class a graduation requirement, but I can only assume you'll need something to bring your gpa up since you clearly suck at history from that dinosaur comment." He added, and this time the werewolf laughed again, his head throwing back as he grinned unrepentantly. ”Is that what you think, Mr. R?” He asked before smirking again and shrugging. ”I guess it must be knowledge for idiots that the Paleozoic era lasted for about 325 million years, and then there was the Mesozoic era, which lasted from that time to about 56 million years ago, from which time came the introduction of the distant relative of the human, and thus began our exciting trip to this classroom today. But then, what would I know?” He asked simply, before settling back in his chair, eyes gleaming with the fact that nothing this teacher could say or do would phase him.

"Now don't think I'm some up tight jerk who counts off for no reason, behave and do your work and we'll have fun. Just ask.." He said, addressing his attention to the entire class once more, before walking to Skyler and putting his hand on her shoulder. "My dear, sweet, wonderful sister Miss Skylar Ragnulf. She lives with me." He said, and Jackson muffled laughter behind his hand, through a faux cough. "Okay that's enough embarrassing students for now!" He said finally before writing the name of their story on the board. "Any more questions before we start today's reading?" He asked, and Jackson smirked, but said nothing, his arms crossed loosely over his chest, posture relaxed without worry of whatever the teacher had to say, or his smartass alpha sister behind him.

Skyler watched as Jackson turned towards her, and she definitely remember him as she smiled coyly mouthing pup at him. Her amusement shown all to well as she heard him laugh back as though it was nothing, "my my your laugh is just as obnoxious as when you're talking...."

”And what age are you from, the time when dinosaurs hadn’t even come to be, yet?"

"The age in which you should watch whom your mouthing off to."

Skyler's personality always seem to rub off the wrong way when around another person with the same kind of personality as her. It was definitely seen around Jackson as most of the class seem to fall silent--mostly wondering what the teacher would do about it. It seem to be answered, "Looks like we're lucky class, we have a rising comedian with us."

Skyler stared back at her brother seeing that glint in his eyes, as she just rolled hers knowing what he was going to come up with. Skyler raised a brow looking at her brother, then back towards Jackson wondering what he would say next, ”I guess it must be knowledge for idiots that the Paleozoic era lasted for about 325 million years, and then there was the Mesozoic era, which lasted from that time to about 56 million years ago, from which time came the introduction of the distant relative of the human, and thus began our exciting trip to this classroom today. But then, what would I know?”

"Not bad--yet--that information is easily obtainable through internet means.... When's the last time you actually picked up a book and read it?" Skyler smirked at that comment, but it faded away when her brother's voice spoke out again, and she stared back at him.

"Now don't think I'm some up tight jerk who counts off for no reason, behave and do your work and we'll have fun. Just ask.." Skyler saw it coming, even when his hand touched her shoulder--she didn't flinch or freeze--she merely stared back at him, "My dear, sweet, wonderful sister Miss Skylar Ragnulf. She lives with me."

Skyler smiled at her brother, "yes--I do live with you--perhaps I should tell them some of  your most embarrassing secrets?" She smiled knowing full well she wouldn't do that, but it was fun to stab at her brother's sometimes.

"Okay that's enough embarrassing students for now!" He said writing Annabelle Lee on the board before turning back at the class, "Anymore questions before we start today's reading?"

Skyler raised her hand for this as she wanted the information she needed the most, "will this book be on the final test like the other book? If so, should we still continue to read that book for the final test?" Just because most kids didn't want to know things such as this, Skyler wasn't one of those kids--she wanted to be ready for anything, even if she had to place in the extra effort.
