POWERS AND ABILITIES
Basic Abilities and Skills of a Witch: Spells, Hexes, Rituals, Conjuring, Potions, you name it, Hayden probably has either tried it or has a how to guide in his grimoire. At one point, he became addicted to black magic, using it to get everything and anything he wanted. Now, he mostly sticks to white magic, in hopes of redeeming himself & stopping the dark forces he once served.
Aerokinesis: Inherited ability to manipulate air currents, giving him the power to create anything from simple breezes to deadly bursts of wind in states of distess or danger.
Pathokinesis: The ability to manipulate the emotions and energies of those he is in contact with
Psychoscopy: Can, in a limited way, sense demons and spirits, and the energy produced by witchcraft, similar to the way other ppwerful witches and Druids can
Martial Arts: Trained in Krav Maga and Muay Thai from age 12-17. Little rusty, but I wouldn't push it...
Weapons Training: Hayden's stepdad, a hunter, had him trained in a variety of weapons, from firearms to knife throwing and fencing.

all about me
The only thing a person can say, without any doubt, about Hayden? He's as complicated as they come. You can know him for a year, and still never learn anything about him. Why? 99% of the time, it's all for show. Sure, he's arrogant, wealthy, and got superpowers (for lack of a better term) to boot! But is that all there is to him? The cocky good-looking guy that comes in, screws girls, and leaves town? Hell no.
Hayden is obsessed with cleaning up his act and making his life better. Making himself better. All he wants is to make amends for the wrongs he's done, and to do whatever it takes to remove the supernatural from his life for good so that he can finally be part of his son's life and find a girl to settle down with. Not to say that he's only depressed either. Like I said, Hayden's complicated. His mood's change faster than the weather, and even more frequently. But, in the end, the thing to know about him is this: He's the best friend you could ever have if you stay on his good side, but he can your worst nightmare if you make him your enemy.
history.
this is the story of my life
The Outlawe family was well known for miles around as the wealthy private family, the one that everyone wanted to be and wanted to be known by. Tracey Outlawe was no exception to this. Adored by everyone that knew her, showered with money and gifts by her family, she had everything she could want. Then, she met him, the man who swept her off her feet. Long story short, unprotected sex leads to babies. And, sadly, that's about all Hayden knows. Sure, he asked plenty of times growing up. Probably thousands of times, but he never got any answers, in fact, that subject seemed to be taboo to even bring up. So, all he knows is that he was born on October 24, 1990, a mere five months after his mom graduated from high school.
Mom: Tracey Lynn Outlawe. Father: Unlisted
And boy, did that scandal spread like wildfire! Within days, there wasn't a person around that hadn't heard, and of course, this left the rest of the family furious. Not only had she had a kid out of wedlock, but to add insult to injury, she couldn't (or wouldn't?) produce the father's name? This caused an all out war between Hayden's mother and her family, so, fearing their retribution, she did the only thing she could think of, she ran. Going to a long-time family friend (a young hunter named Jason Caine who had grown close to the family over the years) for help, she took everything she could, and vanished in the middle of the night. They moved from place to place for years, Jason doing all he could to make sure no one ever found them. Of course, over time, the relationship between the two began to grow, and when they finally found a place to settle in that they could call home, Jason and Tracey were married, with four year old Hayden as their ring bearer. Life after that was pretty great. Tracey settled into a job as a secretary (not that they were in desperate need for money as Tracey had been able to escape with a large sum), and Jason continued to hunt, although not as frequently as he once had. Hayden eventually began school, which made life a LITTLE more complicated as he had his stepdad's secret to protect, but he made it through alright. That was, until things got a little strange for him. At around 7 or 8, Hayden began to notice strange things. Nothing too big at first, of course, just oddities like how each time he would get angry, the wind seemed to start blowing around him. Or how easy it was to manipulate people into doing what he wanted, or feeling how he wanted them to feel. It all seemed like innocent coincidence to him, so he didn't pay it any mind until he was 13. Then he got his first taste of what his abilities could do.
Facing off against a bully who had made the mistake of teasing him, labeling him a "bastard child" due to the fact he didn't know his real dad, Hayden felt his anger grow and grow as the yelled insults at each other. Eventually, of course, it came to blows, with Hayden easily taking the older boy down due to the training Jason had him in. This was nothing special, but as Hayden turned to walk away, the other boy made the mistake of calling his mother a whore. With that, Hayden slung around, and as if by instinct, flung his hand at the boy, and powerful burst of wind sending the boy into a door, his head crashing against the now shattered glass.Of course, no one around them was sure what they had seen, so they all took to claiming Hayden had shoved him into it, but Hayden knew what had happened. He had felt the surge of power go through him. Question was, where had it come from? What was going on with him? Of course, he knew the only people he could ask. So, against his better judgment, he confronted his parents. And oh boy, did they have a story to tell.
As it turned out, Hayden's mother was descended from a long line of powerful witches, her bloodline coming straight down from William Outlawe, cambion son of Alice Kyteler and her demon lover, Robert Artisson (who at the time had been possessing a businessman, also named William Outlawe). The powers Hayden were experiencing, dubbed aerokinesis and pathokinesis by Jason, were just a piece of the inheritance that had been passed down, each firstborn in the family inheriting some piece of the gifts William himself had possessed so long ago. And of course, inheriting a natural aptitude for witchcraft. This news hit Hayden hard, making him feel like a freak. It didn't help that his parents also had to inform him of the reason they had left all those years ago...
As it turns out, Tracey's mother had been an EXTREMELY powerful witch, one well known in many supernatural circles. This was how she had come to meet Jason, and why they had fled. Though Tracey didn't want to believe her mother would ever harm her or Hayden, she knew that in her rage, she may do something, or even use Hayden's shared blood to track down his real father and kill him.
"So why haven't we moved in so long then?" Hayden's question was answered by the sliding out of a large gorgeous chest, inlaid with several odd symbols. It turned out that his grandparents had died in a car crash, and as Tracey had been an only child, everything had been left to her. Of course, with all the running, they hadn't known this right away. Not until Jason found it in a newspaper while looking for a case. Tracey had been shocked and hurt, but of course, some part of her also felt relief. This meant they no longer had to worry about her family sending anyone to look for them.
Learning all of this, part of Hayden felt betrayed that this HUGE part of who he was had been kept secret all these years, but part of him was also excited. To him, his parents had just informed him that he could literally do or have whatever he wanted. Of course, as his mother warned, this wasn't the case. There was a fine line when it came to magic, and she made him promise not to ever cross it. He of course said yes, and trusting him, offered him the Kyteler Grimoire, and to teach him what little she had come to learn herself. This, of course became his life after that. Learning simple white magic from his mother, learning about hunting from Jason. And, as expected, teaching himself anything and everything he could from the grimoire when he was alone, not to mention doing everything in his power to try and get control of his other abilities. This continued even after, at 15, Jason began to let him accompany him on jobs whenever he wasn't in school;. For the next two years, Hayden felt like he was on top of the world. He was now a hunter, and powerful witch to boot! But all that joy and fun would soon come crashing down around him...
In February of 2008, Jason found a series of demonic omens that seem to be spreading out everywhere. Of course, he knew what this meant. Every hunter in America had heard the news... The Devil's Gate had been opened, thanks to two guys named Winchester. So, it was all hands on deck in order to prevent what was being dubbed a coming apocalypse. Fearing this case would be too much for a kid his age, Jason forbade Hayden from coming with him, leaving he and his mother with only one thing: A promise he would be back soon. This was a promise he wasn't able to keep.
Rolling into town alone, something he had done for years, Jason hadn't been prepared for what he was facing, and overwhelmed by the demons in town, was killed. This left Tracey broken, and sent Hayden in a downward spiral. What began as constant drinking and drugs soon transformed into abuse of power and magic. Hayden would constantly vanish from home, taking Jason's Chevelle (returned to them by the police once the "murder" had been dubbed a cold case) to find whatever trouble he could. Be it something supernatural or normal, fights or races, mountain climbing or cave exploring, if it meant he could possibly get hurt or killed, he was gonna do it. This of course put him in constant fights with his mom, which only made him angrier. And as his anger grew, so his powers became more and more unstable.
Eventually, Hayden lost all control of himself. In his anger and depression over the loss of the only father he'd ever known, Hayden began to use his abilities and witchcraft for everything in the attempt to fill the void the loss had left him with. Pathokinesis gave him the power to manipulate people into doing or giving him whatever he wanted, and what he couldn't use control of emotions to get, he found a spell to do it. Eventually, white magic did him no good, so he began to practice black magic, using it for everything from cheating in school (when he actually attended) to revenge on people that pissed him off, often resulting in serious injuries and sickness. Hayden's mother soon began to notice the changes in her son, his attitude cold and dark, his words harsh and cruel... She knew exactly what was going on. And this led to the biggest fight yet.The screams were probably heard for several blocks as she confronted him, Hayden furious at her accusations (though they were true). The fight lasted for what seemed like hours, his mother begging him to stop and screaming at how far he had fallen, Hayden packing his bags and throwing his stuff around. Eventually, his mother tried to grab his arm, hoping to stop him, to calm him down, but in his rage, Hayden turned on her. With a simple motion from his hands, he produced a burst of energy which sent her flying across the room, slamming her into the wall and knocking her out. Panicking, Hayden zipped up his bags and ran out the door, jumping into the Chevelle and leaving, vowing he'd never return.
He kept his promise too. In all the years he's been gone, Hayden has never once returned, and has done everything he knows how to in order to keep his mother from being able to find him, even going so far as to have cloaking seals tattooed on him. The guilt he felt, the pain he had caused, it was finally catching up with him. No matter how far he ran, no matter what he did, he couldn't escape it. Sadly, that did not stop Hayden's abuse of magic. Each new place, each new apartment, each new town, Hayden made his start by using witchcraft to acquire everything he needed, be it money, a job to use as a cover, or even using it to compel someone to sign a lease over to him. This continued for two years, after which he ended up in LA.
He used his powers and charm to smooth his way into a modeling agency, and of course, his looks to get the spot. He was concerned that his mother may see him and come looking for him if he ended up in a magazine she read, but his faith in witchcraft had not been shaken yet, so he figured his cloaking spells and wards would keep that from happening. Living it up in Los Angeles, Hayden bathed himself in everything wealth and power could get him, be it drinks, sex, food, or material possessions. This too would eventually come to an end though.
Hayden had of course made enemies since he'd arrived in LA, plenty of them in fact. You can't expect to screw as many people over (or simply screw as many people's girlfriends) as he did and not have people who want you dead. And that's exactly what happened. Late one night, Hayden found himself under attack by a man who's girlfriend Hayden had been sleeping with, along with 4 of his friends. He fought them for as long as he could, but let's face it, five guys looking to kick your ass, one of them with a baseball bat, you're odds aren't that great. In the end, it was only his aerokinesis that scared them away, leaving Hayden broken and bloody for the cops to find. Hayden didn't turn them in though. No, he had something much worse in mind.Scouring through the Kyteler Grimoire, Hayden looked for the worst possible curse he could find to enact his revenge. And he found it....
Trí Oícheanta Ifreann, a curse so terrible that those who it was placed on would face three nights of unimaginable agony, awake or asleep, and at midnight of the third day, would die. Blinded by his rage and by the pain from his attack, Hayden prepared the spell. It required hex bags made from rare and toxic ingredients, not to mentions parts of animals he had no idea how he'd acquire, but he did it. And with his ability to manipulate people into doing what he wanted, it wasn't hard to get the bags into their houses.
"Le lasair choinneal ar a dhéanann d'anam sruthán..." Hayden's voice echoed in haunting whispers as he chanted over the five poppets on his altar, each engraved with the name of an attacker. The black candle's flame seemed to rise and fall with each word, the blood on the poppets sizzling. Then, as he neared the end of his incantation, he lifted the candle, letting the hot wax drip over each doll. "Anois, i trí lá am, fhaigheann tú bás!" And with that, the poppets burst into flames.
Hayden was unsure if his spell had worked at first, as the guys didn't seem to be in agony the first day, jumpy and nervous maybe, but lo and behold, soon they were all sickly and in pain, each one ending up in the hospital, and then on midnight of the third day, each one died, choking on his own blood. Hayden felt satisfied with his revenge, that dark part of his soul pleased with their suffering. The hunters who showed up after reading about the "mysterious illness" were not.
It only took couple days, and then they were there, kicking the door of his apartment in, guns raised, ready to kill him. Thankfully, them asking questions had caught his attention, and knowing who they were and why they were there, Hayden was ready."Abla, Got, Bata, Bata, Bleu!" As those words rang out, his hand raised towards them, both of their fingers squeezed the trigger. Hayden closed his eyes, but once again, witchcraft did not fail him.
Their trigger squeezing let out nothing but loud clicks. Smiling, Hayden waved his hand at them. "Ar shiúl ó dom!" With that, both of them flung away from him, sliding into the wall. "Cnámha faoi ghlas, matáin reoite, sclábhaithe a mo thoil!" With that, both of them seemed to be unable to stand, his hand seeming to hold them both against the wall.
Of course, with this came a slew of threats and insults, the hunter's bravado never ceasing.Still feeling the rage from his last attack, fueled by the dark magic flowing through his veins, Hayden made a decision here and there to end this threat before more hunters showed up. "Beidh Croí stop, na scamhóga gan aon aer, mar a bhfuil do shaol a glacadh." With that, he clenched his first, his eyes dilating to the point of all color fading away, and both of them began to choke and sputter, blood eventually spraying out with each cough before both fell over, dead.
At first, Hayden felt nothing over what he had just done. But as he packed his bags, rushing around his apartment and loading them all into his Chevelle, he kept noticing their eyes, wide open, staring at him. Still, it wasn't until he was covering the apartment and all the furniture with gas that it hit him. And boy did it hit him hard... He had just murdered two hunters. Two people, like Jason, that would never go home. Never make it back to their families. It was as if everything he had ever done hit him at once. He felt sick, and the feeling didn't go away. Even after he found himself vomiting on the floor, begging for forgiveness, it didn't go away. Standing up, he fought the urge to just lay there and burn, and tossing a match, walked outside as the apartment burst into flames, covering up the murder and any proof he had ever been there.
That moment changed Hayden's life forever. From that point on, he swore to do whatever it takes to end this curse. To make amends for all the wrong he had done. So, now, as he travels around in his new truck (the Chevelle in the garage of his new house), doing all he can to stop the evil he had once supported. To help hunters (though the pain and distrust he feels around them causes him to avoid them if possible), and hopefully, one day find the demon who started all this with his family centuries ago, and not just send it back to Hell, but find a way to kill it once and for all. To free him and his family from the curse of that demon's power.
And now... That journey begins...
