Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
Ooh, the years burn

Keiran really didn't know what to do. His sister went to high school like usual this morning. It was like any other day. He had been so tired when he went to school that he hadn't noticed if there was anything different about her. He wasn't coming up with any reason why his sister would just seem to disappear.
The middle schooler had spent a good hour sitting outside the school before retreating to the homeless shelter. He then spent another hour just waiting outside the building for his sister. What was most disturbing was that his sister never appeared. She always went to the middle school to pick him up and walk with him back to the shelter, or to wherever she decided they were going to spend the night.
If she didn't do that, she usually just met him at the shelter. But when she didn't show... the small boy was concerned. He didn't even know where to begin looking for his sister, and that's what scared him most. Kei just gripped his backpack and began to walk. He wasn't even sure where to go. Where his sister would go.
He stumbled through the playground, wondering if his sister was here, but she wasn't. He was frustrated. He then just went off into the woods. He didn't even know why he felt drawn to go in them. Part of him was deathly afraid of the woods. It felt like every hair on the back of his neck stood on end with every step.
"Lily?" He kept called out every few feet. "Lily, this isn't funny." He wasn't even sure if his sister was here, if she could even hear him. But he was hoping she was. He hoped she was alright, because she had all he had left. He just couldn't give up and not attempt to try and find his sister.
Keiran tripped as he walked, falling flat on his face. He whimpered and tried to get back up but his ankle just screamed in pain.
