Dusk had long since fallen over the small city of Beacon Hills, a blanket of darkness now took over with nothing but street lamps and his car lights to guide the way as he headed to the skating rink. His thoughts were on a one track road, endless on one topic that he just couldn't seem to shake from his head. In fact, they had nearly caused him to run a few stop signs on more than one occasion. Sheriff Stilinski told him that one of these days, he was going to end up in a car crash and not see it coming. Honestly, Danny had felt embarrassed by it, but he couldn't decide if it was because he was so wrapped up in one boy or the fact that it was a classmate and a teammate's dad who was lecturing him on driving safety that bothered him more. As if on cue though, his shuffle turned on Paramore, and as Hayley William's voice came on, he allowed his thoughts to wander back to the topic at hand.
Honestly, he couldn’t believe that this was his second date with Ethan Reynard. Somehow, he had managed to survive that first one without looking or sounding like some crazy person. Danny didn’t even know how he pulled it off since being that close to the other boy had nearly driven him up the wall. He didn’t know where they stood, it still felt awkward in a way and well, the teenager was still trying hard to not be easy, to not be readable but day by day, he felt his walls slowly crumbling around him. Whenever he dared to sneak a look at Ethan, what used to pass for fleeting seconds were slowly turning into day dreaming stares, and whatever accidental physical contact they had, a bump in the hall way, a brush of the hand, the contact just lingered there on Danny’s skin for hours on end. In fact, he was pretty certain that his inner thoughts were turning into the pages of a first person young adult novel.
A sigh escaped him at the thought. He had been in love before, or he thought he had been in love before and he's had crushes as well, yet none of them compared to this feeling that he had for Ethan. Sometimes, Danny didn't even think that it made any sense, he barely knew him yet there was so much that he wanted to know. Even with Jackson's heeding warning, the teenager didn't want to listen. He didn't want to be careful at all, he just wanted to be with Ethan. In the end, that might be his downfall, yet there was something that he saw in Ethan Reynard, something that he saw that nobody else could seem to see, even Ethan, and he wanted it to be true and for everyone else to be wrong. Maybe it was just wishful thinking, maybe it was just a silly feeling, but even Danny realize that he didn't care, because he believed in it.
As he pulled into the parking lot now, Danny managed to shake his thoughts for now. His was the only car in the parking lot, not shocking since well, it was technically after hours for skating rink. He struck a deal with Boyd for the keys, leaving out the details and it just seemed to work out. Besides, Danny liked to think that he was a little more trust worthy than Stiles. Parking, brown eyes gazed outside for a moment before he got out of his car now. The cool October air hit him with a little bit of a chill and a gentle breeze, causing a shiver to run down his spine. His track jacket and the thin v neck underneath it were hardly the right material for the outdoors at night, but once he got inside, it'd be fine. Skating made you warm. Although, who knows how much he'd end up doing because honestly, Danny still had no idea if Ethan even knew how to. Crossing his arms over his chest now, the teenager just waited, gazing at the stars and moon, and the occasional whisp of his breath unfurling in the cold air.
