When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
The bow sung over the strings of the violin, the music high and fleeting, light and jovial, meant to induce happiness and laughter, giddiness. After all, that was the best seller in a place such as this, where people came to have fun and spend some time together. There was no such thing as stress for those who visited, no such thing as tension so long as they were at Pirate Flag. Aleksi continued to play for a while, his case open on the ground more for appearances than anything. He wasn’t in need of money, but he did love letting others feel a bit of what he did every time the music sung through him. He finished off the last score and carefully, methodically placed the papers back into his case before starting up another score, this one something he himself had written. It was a bit slower, a bit mellower, but nonetheless it was meant to settle nerves and elicit calmness.
He didn’t rush nor see anything around him as his gaze turned inwards, the soulful feeling of his music strumming from his instrument taking all of his attention. His expression was enraptured as only the most fanatic of musicians would be, and he knew that it was clear that he wasn’t there at the moment, but rather his mind was miles away. When he finished the score, he felt empty almost, without the music flowing through him, but nonetheless was done for the time being. Alek packed his instrument away carefully, as one would pack a cherished heirloom, and settled the strap across his torso, the case resting comfortably against his back. The Psychic left his spot, counting up the money he’d earned before placing it in his pocket and heading for a more secluded spot, just a slight off the beaten path, less people, more quiet.
Aleksi sat down on a bench, running a hand through his hair, pushing it back from his face as he pulled out his small sketchbook and his pencil, taking in the sights around him, sketching a profile of the buildings. He took his time, capturing even the smallest of details that he could from his distance, and didn’t even begin shading until well into his endeavor. He was silent as he worked, the soft breeze of autumn brushing a few stray strands of hair back from his face, enabling him to keep from putting his pencil down to brush his hair away, so he wouldn’t lose his strain of creativity and thought. Once he’d finishing sketching the scene, he started shading, biting the inside of his cheek in concentration. It took him a good while to do shading as well, before he finally finished and leaned back to survey his work, comparing and nodding to himself.
He finally flipped to another page and started in on a sketch of a leaf that had drifted down onto the bench beside him, a faint smile of amusement curling his lips as he sketched it out.
