I, I can't get these memories out of my mind,
And some kind of madness has started to evolve.
And some kind of madness has started to evolve.
Jackson looked around, making sure no one was nearby, and even scented the air to ensure he was right. He didn’t want to face the questions that undoubtedly still came, the questioning looks and the scent of curiosity, maybe even fear. People didn’t like facing the fact that he had cheated death, and he wasn’t sure he liked being the recipient of those kinds of stares. So he’d been avoiding people, dealing with the change every full moon, harnessing his were abilities, and trying to swallow the past, the nightmares especially. To think of all he-the Kanima-had done, made him sick to his stomach, not that he ever deigned to show that. Ever since that fateful night, when Lydia had saved him, and he’d died at the claws of Peter and Derek, well, things had changed, and he wasn’t sure if it was for better or worse yet.
Every night he went to sleep, he saw the bright flash of blood red color behind his eyes, felt the pain of claws pushing through his lower torso, the feeling of dying while held in his ex-girlfriend’s arms. It wasn’t something he was going to just forget. Not to mention since then he’d worked himself to exhaustion, practicing for Lacrosse, or just working out, he ran himself to passing out, literally. It wasn’t like his body couldn’t metabolize fast enough that no lasting damage was caused, he just didn’t want to face his demons.
Dropping his bag on the bleachers, he pulled out his cleats and pulled them on, brows furrowed in concentration as he rose to his feet and bounced up and down a few times, stretching out his legs and over all himself, needing to lose the tension that had been building in him since he’d woken up. The werewolf let out a breath and then started running, doing sprints, practicing moves, doing everything and anything he could without someone there to partner up with him as far as practice went. As he worked, he ran over scenarios in his mind, thinking of what his responsibility would be if his opponent moved this way, that way, had the ball or didn’t.
This continued for some time before he stopped, grabbing a towel from his bag and wiping away the sweat from his face, packing up and heading towards the forest, more than ready to lose himself in a good run to pair with his other exercises. Before he started out though, he sat down at the base of a massive oak, stretching out each leg in turn before just leaning back against the aged trunk, staring upwards and closing his eyes. Sometimes he wondered what had changed in him to make all those things happen, and he wondered at just how he’d come to have the blue eyes of a born beta, not the bitten yellow. Before he knew it, he’d dozed off, not dreaming, but not fully sleeping either, until roughly a half hour later, he woke to the sound of leaves rattling.
His eyes snapped open even as he waited with baited breath. He hoped that the stranger wasn’t one of the alphas that had recently moved into the area. He certainly didn’t want any trouble with those idiots. Especially since they seemed fond of wreaking havoc in their quest for control.

I, I tried so hard to let you go,
But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole, yeah
But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole, yeah
I have finally seen the light,
And I have finally realized
What you mean.
And I have finally realized
What you mean.
