Castiel didn’t know how long he had been in Beacon Hills but he did know that he needed to move on soon. It wouldn’t be long before some of his siblings found him in the small town. Castiel didn’t want to have to move on, though. He wasn’t used to living a life on the run. But there was no other way to make sure that the angel tablet was safe. The angels couldn’t have it because who knew what they would try and do with the information on it and Dean couldn’t have it because who knew what he might try and do with the information on it. The Winchester brothers weren’t exactly the biggest fans of angels, after all.
But Castiel wasn’t going to leave the town tonight. Another twelve hours or so in it couldn’t be of any harm to him. It was a very nice night so the angel decided to spend it walking through the park. Most humans were in bed right now and those who weren’t were busy doing activities other than enjoying the late spring night. It would be pleasant to have some time alone with his thoughts because it didn’t happen often. If there was one good thing about being on the run, then it was the solitude that came with it, giving him the chance to think all of his actions, past, present, and possible future ones, through.
What Castiel hadn’t counted on was to hear a scuffle going on up in front of him. He approached with all due caution and saw, of all people, Dean Winchester being surrounded by three werewolves. Beacon Hills did have a large werewolf problem so the angel wasn’t all that surprised to see that some hunters had been attracted to the Californian town. He could leave before Dean noticed him or he could stay and help. Dean could handle one werewolf on his own—maybe even two—but there was no way he would be walking out of a fight with three alive and a quick glance around showed Castiel that Sam was nowhere to be seen.
It wasn’t much of a choice, was it? Dean was his friend, and he wasn’t going to let his friend die when there was something he could do about it. He teleported himself the remaining thirty yards he had to go and found himself standing behind one of the beasts. He put his hand on the werewolf’s shoulder, causing it to spin around and see who was bothering him. Castiel raised up his other hand, placing it on the top of the werewolf’s head. A bright light emanated throughout the creature and he fell down dead.
Deciding that the newcomer was more of a threat than the hunter, one of the remaining two werewolves broke away from Dean and charged at the angel, knocking him off of his feet. The werewolf only got in a few paltry punches before Castiel had managed to get a hold of his angel blade and stab the werewolf through his heart. Castiel stood up again, putting his blade away, and decided that he would let Dean handle the last one but, of course, would go in there to help him if it was needed.
