Alive. That was how Lexi suddenly felt. Waves of power rolled off her skin in soft pulses and energy fairly crackled in the air around her. For the first time in years, she felt something more than the usual desire to simply exist and the danger that lurked in the form of the vampire seemed to heighten her stale senses. With the adrenaline throbbing through her blood, it created a feeling much like a druggie would feel on his long awaited high and it beckoned to her with seductive intent.
Much like a lover whos touch you'd do almost anything for. The feeling was so intense that Lexi felt as if she were truly living, vibrating with the pure life pulse of the world around her. She felt powerful, confident and drunk on the cascading whirlpool and it was all due to the one creature she should despise more than anything on earth.
Should, being the key words because it seemed as if part of her was drawn to the vile creature even as she watched him through glowing azure orbs. Damn it to hell and back. She would NOT let him control her. Not this time. Not now. She refused to be one of his horrific play toys that danced to his tune. He would NOT scare her or intimidate her because he had no clue what he was dealing with.
That thought made her lips quirk up and an almost evil smile of her own flicker over her angelic features.
Striding forward, the blond took her own seat, perched upon the edge of her desk as she studied the vampire across from her. His words hung in the air and she scoffed even as she took a sip of her own wine. Maybe he had meant to dig her up, maybe he hadn't. Verily, the horrific torture was right up Luka's alley but Lexi was very aware of the fact that she'd been dead for several seconds and she doubted even he could have brought her back without some sort of help. And his brand of help probably wouldn't have been the sort she'd have appreciated.
"Well, whatever intent you had, Luka.... Its a mote point now." she drawled out, eying him over the rim of her wine glass. "As for my power.. What I do with it? I use it to protect the masses from those such as yourself. Having been on the recieving end of your... tender mercies... I have found my calling in protecting the humans from the same sort of torment. Life is enough pain without them knowing about the true horrors that lurk in the dark, waiting to cause them more."
Tilting her head a bit to the side, she watched him for a moment even as she considered her next words.
"If you knew about my powers... I have to ask myself why your here tonight? Weren't you the least bit afraid I might smite you were you stand or something?" she asked, actually curious about that one. "What made you think I wouldn't destroy you were you stood?"

Luka was not a civilized gentleman. No. not at all. On the contrary he was a rabid animal. Barely able to keep from leaping off the loveseat to wrap his hands around her swan neck and sinking his fangs in deep. He was practically foaming at the mouth! Luka merely smiled a thin-lipped smile as the witch watched him watching her. The way she moved towards him suddenly stole the breath from his throat. The playful smirk playing across her lips, the pure feminine energy that radiated off her, the vibrant aroma of her skin which tickled his nose and beckoned him so intensely she might as well have grabbed him by the collar and tugged him off his ass. The vampire's mouth fell open slightly as he imagined her continuing forward, straddling his lap and...
When the blonde perched on the edge of the desk Luka forced his tense body to relax. He snaked his tongue over his bottom lip and swallowed; the venom thick on his fangs and gums as the curse inside of him had anticipated a feeding. The point may have been moot to her, but to the fanatical Russian it was everything. It was the reason she was breathing and blooming still. Had he wanted her dead there was no mistake in his mind that she truly would be a corpse right now. The very thought made him shudder once more.
No. Never Alexis.
She was right in assuming what would have become of her in death. Neverov had often wondered what it would have been like had he given the dying female the darkest gift. Would she be his comrade now? A prisoner to her sire bond? What fun was that? Feisty human Lexi was much more amusing.
Hearing what the powerful woman had been up to, Luka didn't bother to hide the disappointment which crept over his visage. The expression was akin to someone tasting something vile, and the disgust echoed in his voice. "You could do so much with those powers. You could own the world." The Russian would have kept on going, mentioning that humans were cattle and how they were Gods and so on and so on, but he was far too distracted by her question. It was like a corporal slap across his pale face. His smug expression wavered only briefly. It was a the slightest tick at the corner of his upturned lip.
'Because I have been locked in solitude far too long. Because I crave. Because I need.'
The proud, fervent vampire would never speak those words. Luka reached across the divan to run his palm across the divine leather. Stimulated as he was the sensation was a kiss to his soul.
"I vas bored." He lied, his eyes lifting from his hand to meet her glowing sapphire orbs. The challenge in his gaze was concentrated and obvious. "Luka does not fear. He invites. I thought you might want to try and punish me for my past transgressions..."
It was like some sort of morbid dance, the way they circled each other and pretended to be civilized individuals. At least, Luka pretended it. Lexi considered herself very civilized but she'd seen the psychotic monster that lurked underneath the handsome exterior of the creature before her and only a fool would ever think him tame.
She was no fool.
Swirling her own wine in its crystal flute, Lexi let her gaze drop to the crimson liquid even as she lifted it to her lips. Considering his words, she let the fruity concoction burst upon her taste buds before setting it aside with casual ease. The brew was one made especially for her from the vineyard in Spain and the fire it lit in her blood would not be wise in her current situation. She needed to keep all her wits about her as she dealt with the vampire currently sprawled on her office couch.
His words brought a wry smile to her lips though and she shook her head, tawny tresses falling over her shoulders even as azure eyes flashed with power. "What good is ruling the world if your constantly having to defend your throne? I have no need to have people bow down to me or kiss the ground I walk on. Why paint a bigger target on my head than necessary? Here, I have what I need and I'm happy with it. I'm not a greedy woman and riches don't entrance me as they do some." she told him, tilting her head slightly. "Besides, if there is one thing I've learned in this life its that no one is truly invincible. Since I don't care to spend the rest of my life on the run... I'm happy with the status quo."
As Luka went on to explain his reasons for coming, the elegant blond shook her head before sighing. Games. It was always the way with Luka. He was a master at revealing nothing of his true thoughts and turning everything into some sort of twisted truth or dare challenge.
"While I'm sure there are those who would love that task, I'm afraid I'm not one of them." she retorted, voice going hard even as she pushed off the desk. "While I'm sorry for your boredom, I'm not one of your little wind up dolls to be played with at will. Nor do I have the time or inclination to dance to your tune. If that is all you want then I think we are done here."
Lifting her chin a bit defiantly, Lexi moved to pass him towards the door.
"A word of caution, also... Beacon Hill is brimming with hunters. Not all of them are as ... understanding as I am...."

Luka had to roll his eyes in response to Lexi's retort, even going as far as to arrogantly use the fingers of his right hand to make the blah, blah, blah gesture as she spoke. Honestly, where was the fun and happiness in just living out your life like the next Mr. Black or John Doe when you could rule the world like an earth-bound god or goddess? In Luka's opinion that was all that mattered. Power. The Thirst. The Game.
Which was the reason the Russian vampire grew so impatient now. The potent witch was not getting caught up in his gossamer web as easily as he had hoped. She was a strong female once upon a time ago...now she was utterly immovable.
Luka sat upright out of his casual slouch when her ethereal visage lost its playful light; his eyes narrowing to deadly slits and his fangs bared as she pushed off her desk and strode to the door to show him out. A low growl rumbled out of his throat and he shook his own dark head, moving in a shadowy blur up off the settee and towards her so that he seemed to vanish from one spot only to appear right in front of her. Gone was all impish expression. Now his alabaster face was stark and seriously deadly. He grabbed her thin wrist tight enough to cause her pain; his pale eyes glowing with wrath.
"Ve haven't danced and ve are far from done, Alexis." There was no mistaking the intent in that gutteral Slavic drawl. If she would not play willingly then he would force her. Or she would die playing the saint.
But then a funny thing happened that far from amused the fatal Russian. With her next words of caution, the chaotic vampire let go of her arm as if her touch had seared him. The thought that the powerful witch whom he had tortured to near death and buried alive in a game of cat and mouse with her hunter friends felt concern enough to warn him stole the intent out of him as sure as a thief in the proverbial night.
His mouth parted slightly and. some unintelligible sound escaped. His gaze darted back and forth between her gem-colored eyes as if to find his voice there. There it was not. Only true goodness.
If only he could drink in that purity with her potent blood. If he could taste it. And then infect it with all the black from his soul.
Like the true predator he was Luka dove for the seraph's throat; fangs barely scraping the taunt, delicious skin. He sighed, but did not sink them in.
