The pain in her voice was more than his wolf could bare. It whimpered and whined, pleading for the man to give it is freedom. Unable to handle her distress, the man inside felt his heart break a bit more and he knew that he was lost when her eyes met his. There was no power on earth that could have broken him like the torment he saw there and, while he knew it was folly and he knew he'd pay for it, the warrior finally acknowledged the truth in that moment.
She owned him, heart, soul and body.
There would never be another for him and there was no amount of distance that would ever ease the ache she, and only she, put in his heart. Without her, he was nothing more than a shell of a man and by her own profession, she felt the same. What sort of life was a half life like that anyways? He'd rather die than see any harm come to her but, by the gods, he didn't have the strength to walk away again. The first time had almost been the end of him and now, with her taste upon his lips again, he was in real trouble.
Especially with her looking at him like that and feeling her body against his in such an intimate way.
MATE, his inner wolf growled, snarling and snapping at the very idea of being separated from her again.
"Ah, lass... Dunchu know yer my heart and soul?" he whispered, leaning his forehead against hers and drawing her hard against his body, not letting her loose even though he knew he should. "Tis not whatchu think, love... I didn't leave ye willingly, you must believe that. I meant every word I said ta ya and I still do. Tis jest... My life is not mah own. If I had stayed with ye, it would have put ye in grave danger, love. I couldn't live with myself if anything happened ta ya because of meh. I thought.. I thought if I left ye alone.. You'd at least be alive and healthy, even if ye hated me..." he whispered, voice hoarse with his emotions. "I've spent months tryin ta find a way ta break me bond ta Nellie but have found nothing.. Shes a vindictive bitch, she is...."

Searching the fathomless depths of the Wolf's gem-colored eyes, the voodoo witch saw the moment something snapped in him. Misery could see the profound pain flood them, she could read the helplessness like a tome; knew in her own beating and broken organ that he knew and felt her despair. Oh Erik, please don't let me go. Even as she was bound at the wrists like a prisoner the witch felt as if she had been freed from the pits of hell.
He did love her. He still wanted her. He had been doing the one thing that he did better than love her; he had protected her. Loa, it made the woman want to scratch the eyes of that bitch goddess right out of their sockets!
As the cursed male brought her against his steely form, the witch wrapped herself around him as best as she could. Her russet eyes shimmered with shed misery but there was a new glow in them; one of mending. One of happiness and peace.
"You silly man. Donchoo know it takes a woman ta best a woman?" There was laughter in Misery's thick Cajun brogue, and she knew as sure as she believed in this reconciliation that she WOULD help him find a way to break the cursed oath.

Mizery's words made him smile even as he held her close. Conflicting emotions via'd for dominance but he knew walking away was hopeless. That meant, they were going to have to develop a game plan and pray to whatever Gods might be listening.
As if the Gods had ever helped them before, right? He'd always heard it said that there was a first time for everything though so it was worth a shot. Feck knew they didn't have much else going for them. Even week, Nel was still a goddess with a goddess's powers. Without something to combat them, they were walking targets.
Happy Freaking Joy Joy, right?
Pulling back to look down at her, Erik forced a smile even as a hard knock on the door rang out. Growling low in his throat, the Celt shot the look a hot glare that should have, by all rights, had it going up in flames.
"What du ye want?" he snarled, pissed at being interrupted with his mate. "Uh... We're up, dude... On stage. You want someone to fill in for you, man? If your busy or something?" came a semi timid response even as Erik leaned his head back against the wall and tried to get his inner beast under control. Looking down at Misery, he offered her a half grin before arching a brow in question as if the say the choice was hers.
