Sams words brought a little smile to the brunettes face but she simply shrugged instead of replying. Using the motions of bringing the beer bottle up to her lips for a drink, she took the precious seconds to put a game face on and compose her voice. When she was finally able to give some semblance of nonechalance, she glanced over at him and twirled the beer bottle cap between her fingers.
"Yeah, well... I guess we all have sob stories right?" she returned, pausing to take a shot into the wastebasket at the end of the bar. "Sides, not much you guys could have done anyways. Our families are what put "dysfunction" in dysfunctional families. Look it up and I bet you find us all pictured there."
twisting back around to lean on her elbows, the huntress shot him a glance from the corner of her eye even as her nimble fingers went to work on the label of the Coors bottle. As was her habit, even seated she could never quiet keep completely still. A trace of nervous energy was always in evidence.
"You know, Sam... That phone thing... It works to ways." she chided, peeling the paper from the cool glass. "I know we all have that multiple personality disorder but I've still got that same old cell number that Dad made me keep in case of drastic emergencies. Year go by and a girl doesn't hear from you.. Kind of gives her a complex if you feel me..."
Although her words were light, there was an air of seriousness to her demeanor. Arching a brow, she shifted to face him more fully before continuing.
"Besides, forgive me for pointing this out but..... You look like hell, buddy. Something that a bit of food and drink aint exactly going to cure. " Tilting her head slightly, Jess continued to examine the other hunter. "You have the look of a man who could use a friend. I might not always be the sharpest tool in the shed but I've been told I make a damned good listener. Anything you want to talk about or get off your chest, I'm your girl."
Then, going quiet as the bartender brought his food and slide a few more shots in front of them, she shrugged. On a normal night, she avoided the hard shit but tonight.. Tonight definitely felt like an exception.
