It was funny. Where before, Tellie hadn't noticed how creepy the night could seem, all the way back to the store, she watched every shadow. While her pace wasn't exactly a run, it wasn't the slow, wandering stroll that had taken place earlier either. Every sound, scrap and slither made her about jump out of her skin and she suddenly wanted nothing more than to be tucked in safe and sound inside her "rabbit hole" as she liked to call the bookshop. The more nervous she became, the worse the tingling along her skin became and when the sound of a footfall came behind her, she was very much afraid she was about to loss control.
Thankfully though, she found the door to the store in front of her and she fumbled with the key even as it slid into the lock. A quick twist of the metal and she was inside the door, slamming it shut behind her. Only to frown as a sound caught her attention outside and then was shut down with a.. Grunt? Surely she hadn't heard that right.
Frowning, Tellie stepped back from the door and stared at it before moving slightly to the side. Leaning forward carefully, she slipped a pair of fingers into the blinds and poked them open, looking for a sign of disturbance outside. She had half decided it was her imagination taking effect and the young mans words from the park had caused her imagination to overact when a subtle motion from the corner of her eye cause her gaze to slant sideways.
Much to her surprise, even on the dim street, she was able to recognize her companion from earlier. What on earth? Had he followed her home? Then, she noticed him rubbing his knuckles and her eyes widened further. Surely he hadn't... No, he wouldn't... Would he?
Worrying on her bottom lip, the raven haired young woman realized that she was staring before she let the blinds snap shut and then eased back to the door. Common sense warred with her compassion and then her hands flew to the key, unlocking the door and easing it open even before she really thought about it. Careful not to leave the safety of her shop, she glanced this way and that before calling out.
"Excuse me... Are you all right? Are you hurt?" Ok, stupid question. He was rubbing his knuckles like they were hurt. If one of those men had hurt him.. then it was her fault. "Can I.. do you.. need some ice for that?"
