Peter hardly had a sweet tooth. The Cake and Bake was the best place to get a good connection--other than the library. Though unlike there, it would hardly matter if anyone walked into him.

Anyone he knew anyways--even if he did, it would be hard for them. If they wanted to perhaps kill him as they would be out in the open, and Peter wasn't that foolish to keep himself an exit where he knew it would be. At best he was just here because of a certain interest.

That interesting currently being the smell of a werewolf, and after some digging--an Alpha. Another Alpha in this town, and an Alpha that had suddenly been thrust this position because of her father's death. To say it was a tragic thing was another for Peter.

Something he actually cared for--not really......


He had no care for the person in the kitchen, nor did he care about her family. So far they didn't seem to be a real threat as they wanted to be just a normal family. Suddenly Peter wondered if Derek knew about this young new Alpha? Or if he even considered a potential new ally?

If he didn't, he sure as hell should have been considering what they were up against. At least another Alpha--as new as they could be--would be a good chance. Even if it was the slim chance that it would cause some other problems--he was sure this one wouldn't cause it.

Peter continued to sit where he was eating a blueberry turnover that he had decided to buy. Amazingly for someone as young as the alpha girl--she was a damned good baker. He silently took a sip of his coffee before feeling that irritating itch as though someone was staring at him. He cracked his neck before turning his head slightly.

He looked over his corner at the person that stared at him. A smirk played on his lips, "as much as I would love the staring. You're starting to creep me out with it. Is there something I can help you with? A question needing answered?"

"A really good mental institution?"

Coffee. It was something that Preston could never live without. It wasn't as simple as most people thought to stop drinking it once your body had become so accustomed to it. Preston typically drank about 6 to 7 cups of coffee, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. Sometimes it go so bad that once the coffee shops around town could close, energy drinks were bought and paid for.

It was his drug. Sure he looked liked someone had ran him over, brought him back to life and did it again, but that was price you paid for when you lived the life of a hunter. Rode hard and put up wet.

Preston had become already accustomed to the small town the momenet he had first came to the Cake and Bake. Sure he had met the man of his dreams there, and that probably helped, but this run to the coffee shop, was more for just him, a little bit of solace after his shower and a change of his clothes at the hotel that he had finally checked into. He ordered his hazelnut drip coffee with two sugars, and a muffin. When it came to which kind, he said, "Surprise me." The girl behind the counter had smiled at him.

To him, the experience had been a lot smoother than the first time that he was in there. Perhaps it was the fact that he was wearing some cleaner clothes, and he had had a chance to do his hair, and shave his face. He shrugged about it, paid for his things, and then moved to find a spot to sit and enjoy his coffee in peace.

He was barely through the top of his muffin, one of those people that ripped the top of the muffin off, and ate that part first, when he could hear someone, talking rather rudely to someone else that was in the coffee shop. Preston gave him a quick look, and decided that it was none of his business until the guy that had just been staring, went to make a move towards the one that was speaking.

Preston sighed, and moved towards him as the guy stood to his feet. Once he had tried to make a move, grumbling about how some people should just be locked up, Preston grabbed him by the arm and twisted it behind the mans back. "Now, thats no way to treat a community member. Perhaps you need to be reminded that this.. He gestured around the coffee shop, "isn't the highschool and, you should probably get back to where you belong."

The kid gave him a look, but didnt say anything further, and Preston let him go, the kid running out of the door. Preston returned to his coffee and muffin, he didn't say anything to the man that had mentioned mental institutions. Just drank his coffee with a smirk reaching his face.

So to say that Peter saw something like the kid wanting to punch him--wasn't surprising. Though for it to be stopped by another person was the surprising part.

To be honest he was somewhat disappointed that it had been stopped. He actually wanted to see what the kid would do. He wasn't prone to violence, but if the child so much as did that.....

Well he wouldn't exactly be responsible for some broken limbs--now would he?

The person who had stopped the kid had obtained his interest though. Why would he so much as give a care in the world about someone like him? Or in this case the the two people whom were about to start a fight. Peter actually snorted at that community member comment.

Like hell was he a community member, and he could care less what people were thinking of him. They might have been right that he should be in a mental institution himself. That is if he actually didn't think or acted a lot normally than anyone inside of that place.

To say his curiosity had gotten the best of him as he decided to take his chance towards the guy. He didn't sense much until he was a little bit closer towards him. It was only when he was standing right near his table did he finally smell the coating of gun powder--the smell most hunters carried.

He raised a brow before speaking, "that was surely kind of you. Though I didn't think anyone would step in--most deal there own business."

He didn't even wait for a comply before sitting down on the other side of the guy. He watched him carefully, "I've seen you before.... Why have I seen you before?"

He didn't even get the opportunity to have his heart flutter. Sure the kid had nothing on him when it came to training, and he could have snapped the kids arm like a twig, but unless he had pulled a weapon on him, no need to damage the little ones ego further. Preston had finished his muffin, noticing the whispers and the stares that had started again. He rolled his eyes. It was a nice day, no need to ruin it with him getting ticketed for anything.

Preston sat his coffee in silence when he noticed the other man, from before who the kid had been talking about, giving him a look. It didn't bother him, and it was to be expected, when some random stranger stands up for you. But the kid was ruining the serenity of the coffee shop. It was like his church, and that was just not allowed. He didn't seem dangerous, but the look made Preston shiver. There was just something about him..

He snapped out of his own head when the man thanked him for helping him out. Preston smiled at him. "Jus tryin' to do my own part." Sure, he remembered how it was to be a teenager, and practically hate most adults that walked by him. But he had a chip on his shoulder. Authority figures bugged him, not as much now, that he knew more about the world. But that's no way to treat someone who did you no wrong.

He leaned back and took a sip of his coffee, and to his surprise, the man joined him at his table, asking if he knew him from somewhere. Preston shook his head. "Haven't been here before, just moved to town actually." He hadn't even called about an apartment yet. He sighed, pushing the hair out of his eyes. It had been a while since he just let it hang in his face, but he was out of hair product, remembering to add yet another thing to do on his list.

Preston sipped at his coffee again. "I'm Preston by the way." The introduction was limited. But he didn't want to spook the guy off if he had possibly known about the supernatural world, so he left off his last name.

Peter was surprised how much strength the boy could muster--for a moment he wonder where he could have possibly learned it. He had moved fast and fluidly taking the boy's arm behind his own back, and looked about ready to break if need be. It had caught Peter's interest when he had done so, mostly because he wondered what could get the boy in front of him to do something such as that.

Then again--they were in a coffee shop, and the angry teen had gotten pissy because of him. Wasn't his fault though--the kid was staring, and he didn't like to be stared at--or touched. So when the other had grabbed him--he was actually quite glade--mostly because he wasn't sure how he'd explain to Derek about a local teen's death.....

Perhaps he could just blame it on the mysterious murders?

No--that wouldn't work very well--claw marks wouldn't be associated to those cases.

He watched the boy carefully even when he finally seem to realize that Peter had decided sat in front of him. He raised a bemused brow as he tilted his head watching after the young man--waiting to see what he'd do next. When he said he was doing his own part, Peter had snorted and gave what sounded like both a huff of air and a chuckle.

"Yes, because it's just normal for a person to stop a fight--you don't look very officer like, kid...."

His eyes watched him carefully trying to figure out the scents. Even as he came back from the dead--not everything returned to him quickly. He wouldn't be able to do a fight very well, neither was any of his senses that good either. He still had a bit of trouble smelling, hearing, and even seeing things from a very far distance. Though whenever somewhere in close range--like now--that was a different story.

He could smell what little scents could give him--the boy smelled like oil--and gunpowder. He didn't let it catch onto his face as he shrugged off the boy's comment, "sorry, guess you have that face." He leaned back in his chair as he gave a smirk towards the boy, "Peter, so what brings you all the way here? That is if I may ask of course...."

It wasn't that Preston was withholding information, its we that he merely didn't want to draw any more attention to him than need be. As a hunter, the longer you did the job, the crazier things you saw, and the more they knew your name. Werewolves, vampires, demons; however while they knew his name, he knew how to stop them. Impasse. That's what they called it. Both unwavering, both standing strong.

His attention currently, was on the man that was sitting in front of him. His gestures, and demeanor did seem familiar to Preston, but that wasn't all. It was the way he spoke his words. Conviction. Powerful. He was someone not to be taken lightly, and Preston was kicking himself, not having most of his weapons with him. It wasn't like he was hunting. More like trying to set up his life, and moving large items took time. All he had back at his hotel were a few knives, a .45 handgun, and his crossbow. Not that they would do him any good back at the hotel..

"Yes, because it's just normal for a person to stop a fight--you don't look very officer like, kid...." The word kid stung. Sure he was only twenty four, and was so fresh in town that he had barely had time to shower in his hotel room, but the word kid stung. He had done more, seen more, and experienced so much more than any kid could possibly dream of. It was because of him that they go to worry about finals, and girlfriend drama, and what color to change their hair to.

"Its just the way that I was raised. Don't harm those that don't harm you. Kinda just stuck with me." He could feel is tiny bit of anger at the word kid, but he didn't let that affect him, especially not after dealing out one of his own hunter rules. He had barely worked on is coffee, which was the main reason for being at the cute little shop in the first place. He took a bigger sip, his eyes studying the man that was before him. 

His face was too kind. The kind face that you would see, right before a knife plunged into your back. Preston didn't like that, it reminded him too much of how he imagined his father when on a job. Peter, as he called himself carried himself very tall. Better than other people, as if they were tiny little ants beneath him. He had a curious look about him, as if he were studying Preston the same way he was."So what brings you all the way here? That is if I may ask of course...."

It was the same curiosity from before. "An orphan that got passed around, family to family until I was 18. Worked odd jobs here and there, until I decided that, here seemed like a good place to settle down. Sure the crime rate and murders are high, but the housing market is just where I need it to be." It was probably an over-share, but as his story spread on why he was here, it might as well start with all of the truth, and none of the lies that were sure to take its place in the coming weeks.

"Its just the way that I was raised. Don't harm those that don't harm you. Kinda just stuck with me."

An interesting an all too familiar motto that Peter has not heard just once, but many times before. He raised a brow to the boy as a familiar smirk rested on his face, "well--what a very interesting motto indeed my boy--how long did it take for you to come up with that?"  He watched the boy closely before resting back against his chair looking at his cup of coffee.

Perhaps he should change the subject of this conversation--it wouldn't do good to cause chaos as fun as it sounded. At best this boy in front of him did have that smell of a hunter--it wasn't that hard to figure out for some who've been around them. Scotty boy always smelled of Allison, along with the occasional gun oil and or course gun powder.

Even if the girl didn't shoot a gun--her father did.....

Peter raised a brow at this, "so--you moved here--because the housing market was low? That's--well--a new one. Most people would be ripping their hair out and screaming to get out of here....."

It was nice to just talk with someone, even if he didn't know the guy well, Peter was a great listener. Preston could appreciate the fact that he was taking a interest, as most people just came up with their own reasons for why someone moved, instead of just asking them a simple question.

Preston raised an eyebrow at Peter's question. "Since I was like 6? I don't really remember but a long time." It was an odd thing to ask someone, but he liked the questions. Preston took another sip of his coffee, realizing that if they were going to keep talking he was going to need another.

"Would you care for another drink? I am almost out."

He studied Peter. He was collected, and very well thought out. Always asking the right questions, and keeping himself out of the spotlight, but then again, Preston was the new shiny toy that everyone wanted to look at. Small towns had that affect.

"I can take care of myself if it comes down to it, having been in my share of fights, but the market is great, and some of the people, yourself included have been quite welcoming."
