Chris really felt like he just had to get out of the house lately. He had decided that he could do with some new clothes. He had already taken care of business in regards to his actual business. Now it was just him time. He had almost considered trying to convince Allison that shopping for new clothes would do her some good. But he figured she didn't want to really hang out with him.

That thought alone made him want to sigh. Him and Allison weren't really seeing eye to eye lately. No. Not since his wife died. He still didn't even know how to move on himself, except to try to think about it less and less. It was getting easier, but he still felt like there was something missing. Even as he shopped for new clothes, he can't help but think of whether his wife would have liked what he was picking out or not.

It was a little frustrating in the least. He just settled on buying things he liked, stopping every once in a while to pick up something he thought would be quite fitting for Allison. He honestly was trying to figure out how to bridge the growing gap between him and his only child. But he wasn't even sure if he was making the right approach.

Chris wrapped brought his drink to his lips as he glanced at his phone. The food court was quite alive at this time of day. He had found an empty table to himself and was just taking a brief break. But he had to check on work related things, check his email, make sure he missed no calls, etc. But it seemed like the world was rather quiet, thankfully.

Well... The world was quiet until someone interrupted his thoughts regarding an email on a new contract.

Being with family was something else for Jarrett. He hadn’t spent much time with them in years besides from holidays. He was always off on some hunt usually so it was weird staying in one place. He had to do some shopping since he really didn’t have much at home and wanted some new bed sheets and stuff. Colt had been staying in his bed after all when he was away. It’s cool though he can stay there Jarrett didn’t really mind. He was used to camping out and stuff so it was no biggie just needed some extra sheets and stuff especially for when he camps out in front of his sisters door.

Oh yes he was the embarrassing brother type when he wanted to be and he would make sure Mr. Coulter kept his hands to himself or he’d lose them. So hear he was at the mall. It was crowded full of cheerful people. He hated spending time with overly cheery people so he got in and out of the stores he needed to hit up, and then proceeded to the food court. Where he had seen a familiar face. He hadn’t seen him in a while. His wife Jarrett’s aunt had recently passed on and he was sorry to hear about that. It was so sad. Jarrett heard it was because of werewolves. It always hurts more when something of the supernatural takes on of their own. Kate had died a year earlier.

Maybe their family just had bad luck or were shitty hunters. He didn’t know and he wasn’t about to rip open old wounds either. He had seen Chris check his email. He wasn’t even sure if Chris would remember who he is. He surely had to get visits from Chey and Ryder right? Jarrett couldn’t remember the last time he had seen the Argent's. He had walked over to him standing in front of the table in the crowded food court. “Fancy seeing you here.” Jarrett had spoken loud enough for him to hear hoping not to startle him. He hoped to god that Chris wouldn't draw a weapon in a crowded mall. Jarrett searched around to see if his daughter Jarrett's cousin was with him, but nope he didn't see her about and it was just Chris all by his lonesome.

Chris really realized he needed this outing. It was nice to just be out of the house. Sure, he wished he was here with Allison. But maybe she could use some distance. He just didn't know what to do right now. Maybe buy her something as a peace offering? There were plenty of stores in the mall. He was sure he could find something for her.

A voice startled him from his thoughts as he sipped on his drink. Had the voice not been familiar, he would surely have been ready for a fight. He knew better than to whip a gun out in the middle of public. But he was pretty decent at hand to hand combat, regardless of the fact many probably wouldn't expect it.

The elder male blinked for a moment before setting his phone down on the table. "Jarrett." He was surprised. He couldn't remember the last time he saw the other. It had been a while. "What brings you here?" He hadn't expected to run into him at the mall of all places. Though he had always meant to ask why the Crowes had even come to Beacon Hills. As much as he loved his cousins, he didn't need them poking their nose into every last corner of the supernatural of this town.

Because that would mean that there was a possibility of them learning about Allison and Scott. And he refused to let the rest of the family learn about that. He would make sure of it.

Chris as of yet didn't try to kick his ass when he seen him which was a good sign Jarrett hoped. It really had been too long since he seen the man before him and he seemed to still look good for his age. He was shocked the ladies weren't trying to flock to him. It was way to soon for him to get back on that horse Jarrett thought losing his wife just a little, bit ago. He watched as the elder male placed his phone down surprised to see him there. It was clear by the way he had spoken his name. "That’s me. Long time no see. It is good to see you. I am sorry about your wife." It really sucked having to lose someone so close that he seen daily.

He also remembered what it was like when he lost his own mother. He was asked what brought him here and he pondered this, his fingers tapping on the table. "Well to the Mall I needed new sheets someone has been staying in my bed while I was gone so clean linens and stuff will come in handy when I have to camp out in front of Chey's door just to make sure the dude isn't being fresh with my sister." He stated with a snort and shook his head. He is a male and he knows how one thinks. He wasn't sure if he had meant by the mall or here in Beacon Hills in general. It seriously wasn't often he headed this ways. He preferred the travel and find new things.

"As for being home. My family seems to be having a little bit of trouble so I can home to help sort the lot of them and get them back on track." Jarrett wasn't sure if he heard of Ryder's drinking problems, having a kid and saddling the responsibilities’ on Chey who should be concentrating on school. "Someone had to do it. Dad was having no luck. Ryder has seemed to landed himself in a pickle with booze and saddling our sister with his baby while he goes out and has fun times with a bottle nightly." he stated standing there. "So what brings you to the mall? Enjoying the view or something?" He was curious.

Chris honestly hadn't expected to run into a member of his family at the mall. He was actually doing pretty good at staying away from them. It wasn't that he wasn't overly fond of them... Oh wait. He wasn't overly fond of them. He never really saw eye to eye with them on all matters of beign a Hunter. It was why it had been better to just stick in a small group that he knew he could trust.

"It has been a while, hasn't it." He had spent a while staying away from family. And after Gerard and Victoria... It just made Chris a little more determined to stay away from family. They would just want to drag him back into the family business. There was more to life than hunting, or so he decided. "It's a part of the job, you know that." Hunting was a dangerous profession. You had a good chance of dying if you were dumb. But it was also a well known fact that being one also put those around you in danger. He had just wished there had been another way.

Chris nodded when he learned the other had come to the mall for new sheets. It wasn't like he could ban the other from coming here, or even from being in Beacon Hills. "I wish you the best of luck with that one." He felt a similar connection when it came to Allison. But there really was only Scott to be concerned with. But he was a good kid. A werewolf... But a good kid.

He listened to the words carefully, taking in the information regarding the other half of the family. He couldn't help but frown at the news. He honestly wouldn't have expected any of that, especially what was spoken regarding Ryder. He just motioned to the seat across from him. "Sit. It's a bit more comfortable than standing." It also probably looked a little weirder with him sitting and Jarrett standing.

"Ryder fell into a rut?" He didn't like the sound of that. He couldn't even begin to imagine taking up the bottle. No. He had Allison depending on him. There wasn't really time to wallow in self pity. "If you ever need a babysitter, you know you can call either myself or Allison. Actually... If you ever need anything, you can call." His tone was serious. Although the two sides of the family didn't always see eye to eye, they were still family. Family helped family.

"I needed to get out of the house. Focus on my business. Get some new clothes." He leaned back in his seat. "I need something to occupy my time now that I've decided to retire from the family business." It sounded weird to say. He had spent so many years as a hunter. Ever since he was little. He knew he could handle simply running a business selling weapons. That would be no problem. It would be trying to distance himself from the supernatural that would be a little harder.

It had been ages since he seen Chris so it was kind of nice “It really has. I don‘t remember the last time we seen each other.” Jarrett knew it was all part of the business the odds that they’d lose someone they love. It wasn’t ever easy, but it was something they were breed to do. “I know it is, but still it sucks for something like that to happen.” He said with a slight frown on his face.

Jarrett was wished luck on his task of getting new sheets and he shook his head and chuckled some. “Thanks.” He was sure he’d do just find at both finding some sheets and keeping watch out over his sister from the dude that is staying in his room when he wasn’t home. Colton is also like nine years older then Chey so Jarrett surely didn’t trust him to keep it in his pants. He knows how guys think he is one, and his sister is one beautiful girl. He wants her treated correctly. “Sure you must be having the same luck with Allison. She must have the boys lining up down the street? Is she here with you?” Jarrett asked. On the other hand, was she the type that didn’t want to be caught dead with her father in a mall. He hadn’t known she grew up to be a gorgeous girl as well. Both Chey and herself growing up way to quick.

Jarrett was finally told to sit. It surely had looked odd him standing there talking to the older gentlemen. Jarrett did as he was told taking a seat across from him making himself comfortable and taking in all the other people around them as a force of habit since it was good to know who is around you and possibly where the exits were in case an attack. He had heard of the random animal attacks in these parts. Therefore, he just had to be aware. Chris had listened intensively on what he was telling him about the other side of the family and what was going on with them.

It was really nice to hear Chris next words that if he ever needed help or a baby sitter that he could call them. If he needed anything at all, that made him grin. “Thank you.” He he spoke and was quiet for a minute thinking that all he and Ryder do is fight and get at each other in explosive ways. “Maybe you can have words with Ryder next time you see him?” Jarrett asked. “You are a father you know what it is like to raise and child and what they need. I sadly do not.” which confirmed as of right now Jarrett wasn’t a father. He was scared to bring a child into the world and scared to fall in love really, since he doesn’t want to fall for something he hunts. Maybe if Chris has words with Ryder he’d dumb it down a bit and spend time more time around his daughter and not saddle Chey with things.

Sure staying home with a baby was keeping her out of trouble, but still it shouldn’t be on her while he hit’s the bottle hard. Jarrett asked why Chris was out in the mall. Listening to his words and nodding and was told he was retiring form the family business. “I can’t blame you. One can only handle so much loss. You have to do what is best for yourself and Allison. Just be careful.” He was sure Chris knew that, but still had to state the obvious… “ Being here you may find a new hobby with all the fun things in the mall who knows maybe you’ll be the next tiger woods.” golf could indeed be a nice hobby maybe…”So how is your business doing anyways?” he asked curious. He had heard threw the grapevine Chris was doing private consulting or something.

Chris also couldn't remember the last time they had seen each other. They really had to meet up more often. He had distanced himself from most of his family, for good reason. But he was really just realizing how much he had. "It will never 'suck' any less." He didn't really know what other term to use other than the one that the other had decided to use to describe it.

Chris wanted to sigh at the words about Allison having boys lining up down the street. "There's been one boy. I can't really keep them away either." They just seemed to gravitate back to each other. It was dangerous enough had he been human. But it was made leagues worse by Scott being a werewolf. However. that was a fact he was not about to tell Jarrett. "No, she's not with me. She's probably off with her friends." It had been the only nice thing about Beacon Hills, she had gained friends. Sure, he worried about her all the time, but he knew she could handle herself.

The elder male nodded. "I will most certainly talk to him." Ryder needed some sense knocked into his head. And, if that meant literally, well... Chris would be more than happy to pound it into Ryder's head. He's pretty sure Jarrett would have already done it if he hadn't wanted to upset Chey. "I'm surprised you haven't settled down yet." He really was. Jarrett was young and attractive.

Chris couldn't help but smile at the words. "I'm always careful. I also can take care of myself if something goes south. Out habits die hard, or so they say." Weapons in every room, never leaving home without a knife holstered on each ankle, a gun tucked into the back of his pants. Old habits really did die hard.

He laughed at the words. "I doubt it will be golf." Maybe model plane making? Something relaxing, that was for sure. "It's going really good. In Beacon Hills, I supply the Sheriff's Department. But I also deal to several towns in the area." The business was actually going pretty well. It helped having connections to weapons dealers. It kept him busy, especially since he also liked to collect antique weapons himself.

Chris was right it would never suck any less to loss someone in ones family, but eventually after a while, the pain will dull down. It is a long road to recovery for some longer then others. “So true.” he stated with a slight nod. He did think Allison must have the guys lining up, and was shocked when Chris said there was one boy and there wasn’t a line. “Well if he is a good guy then maybe that is why they can’t stay away from each other. I hope he treats her right at least.” Jarrett was curious what this guy was like and hoped he was a good dude.

Jarrett had asked if Allison had been with him and he said that she was not and was probably out with friends. “That is too bad I would have loved to see her. We will have to get together sometime soon. I can’t blame her for wanting to be with her friends. I remember what it was like that age.” It was true he did. Who wanted to go to the mall with their parents? It was like waiting for embarrassment to kick in being spotted at a mall with the parents. Chris said that he’d talk to Ryder.

“That’s great. I think he really needs a stern talking to from lots of people to open his eyes to what he is doing. The rate he is at he is playing with fire and playing with fire in our line of work can get rather messy and fast.” It was true seeing as what if he is drunk to the gills and can not stand and something they hunt decides he is easy pray. It was how Jarrett thought. Chris was surprised he hadn’t settled down yet. That peeked his curiosity a little. “Really at what age did you settle? I guess traveling just puts a damper in plans of settling.” It was a bit of honesty there. He was not going to tell Chris his fear of falling for the wrong kind of person.

Jarrett was glad that Chris was always careful it helped when one was careful. “Yes I suppose you are right about old habits dying hard. It is always good to be prepared for thingis flyng south.” It was what Jarrett was doing now in case if anything flew south at the mall he wanted to know where his exits and all that stuff are. Not that he thought anything would happen. He just likes to be cautious. Chris doubted his new hobby would be golf and that made Jarrett chuckle a little actually thinking of Chris on the golf field in golf slacks and sweaters. “Yeah that may not be up your all. You may fall asleep in the caddy from sheer boredom.

Jarrett asked about his business and how well it was doing. “Oh that is great! I am glad it is working out so well for you and that you are helping the local police it is always good to be on good terms with them and the surrounding areas.” He said with a nod again. He was happy Chris was doing so well. That job must help take his mind a little bit off of his wife. Chris asked him what he has been up to job wise.

“Nothing solid really. I travel a lot chasing things so I do odd jobs here and there wherever I am. A handy man of type’s things. I don’t really spend money on fancy things and camp out usually so all I really need money for is food, gas, and ferry fares when crossing the oceans." Jarrett liked having adventures. “But I am sure the girls will be putting me to work at the bar. Oh what a joy that will be.” a little hint of sarcasm coming out there, but hey he could help out while he is around.

Chris tried to think about it. Scott was actually a good kid, werewolf aside. Scott always meant well and he was worried that would end badly for Scott and Allison, especially his daughter. But perhaps he should attempt to trust Scott a little. He sighed at the thought of that. "Perhaps." Or perhaps they were just drawn to each other because it was forbidden and Allison knew how much he didn't want her dating a werewolf.

Chris nodded. They would. "Perhaps a dinner at our house." It wasn't often that there were guests at the Argent home, but he figured that perhaps it would be a good place for a family reunion of sorts. He wasn't so sure that a social setting would be a good place for a family reunion of hunters. He could only imagine the types of things that would happen. Most scenarios in his head did not end well.

Chris would be lying if he said he didn't care about his cousins. They were family and, with their line of work, they could be around one day and gone the next. It was important to have their wits about them and it seemed like Ryder needed that reminder. "He just needs a good wake up call." And he figured he could teach him a very good lesson that he would never forget.

The elder male tried to think about it. He thought about it. "Me and Victoria... It was an arranged marriage by my father. We'd known each other since childhood and married at 23. There was some stress with traveling and with the family's line of work, as you can imagine. Two miscarriages later, there was Allison when I turned 28." He could still remember Victoria being upset over not being able to have children. That he would say it was because their family was just cursed. And then they had Allison and it was like everything was better, that they could burry their past failures and focus on their perfect little daughter. They stopped moving as much, Chris took to finding more secure means to keeping an income to support his family. Things just seemed to bloom from there.

Chris couldn't help but nod. He knew how quickly things could go from good to bad or bad to really bad. He had had that happen in his life. Not just recently, but even when he was younger. It had left him prepared for anything. He hated not being prepared for the unexpected. It was probably a hunter thing, though. He figured all of them were prepared for anything, mostly since a hunter had many enemies.

The elder male chuckled at the idea of him falling asleep in the caddy. That seemed about right. "Sounds about right." He smiled. "It's such a slow moving game. I'd need a little more excitement in my life, something a little more interesting." He wasn't a big fan of things that left him twiddling his thumbs. He had taken up learning to cook different things off of websites. Victoria had done most of the cooking and now it was up to him to learn. But he figured he could come up with something.

Chris nodded. "It's good to be in the know with them. Some younger officers have loose lips." He could get quite a bit of info out of them before they realized what they were doing. Sure, he figured Sheriff Stilinski wouldn't mind him asking a question or two every now and then. But he refused to drag innocent humans into the world of the supernatural.

A small smile graced his lips, holding back a chuckle. "Living the dream, apparently." He remembered always just wanting to travel and see the world. But he only had time to do that before he married Victoria. Then she would often come with him to formulate their plans. Then came Allison and traveling wasn't much of an option. "Well... If you ever get tired of the bar... I could use a runner." He tended to do a lot of pick ups and drop offs himself, but he knew he could trust Jarrett with weapons running. It wasn't anything illegal. It was just a pain for him due to his need to keep an eye on her lately since Victoria's death.

NOTES: O.o I don't know where I come up with history. Feels just imagining little Chris and Victoria. I imagine her bullying him. Her being his first crush, and not just because the marriage between them was arranged.
