I don't want you to change;
For all the hurt that you feel,
This world is just illusion, always trying to change you

Ethan was surprised by himself. By Danny. It was weird and he didn't even know how to explain it. He didn't even know what to say when Danny asked if there was something on his mind. He actually didn't even know how to voice his thoughts, or even if he should. He decided it wasn't the right time to do it. He just smiled and shook his head. "Nothing really exciting." There was a faint smile on his lips as he spoke the words.
Besides like he was really going to tell Danny that for a split second there was a slip up in his mind. That for a split second he actually thought he was actually liking the other male. That just didn't happen with him. He wasn't the type to actually grow crushes and like people. But there was still something about Danny that he couldn't place his finger on. There was just something about him that was driving him crazy, and he was bound and determined to find out what it was... one way or another.
Ethan actually looked a little startled for a second when the other spoke of his skills getting him in trouble or being used as a nerd. He shifted a little. "I'm sorry, I didn't... I didn't mean to use you." He sounded worried, concerned. He honestly didn't care if he used Danny or not, for the most part. But he had a role to play. He had a goal. But there was actually a small, tiny part of him that didn't want himself to be the one Danny referred to when referencing people using him as "their personal nerd."
The alpha wasn't sure why he wanted to smile at the way Danny defended his friend. It was actually quite adorable. Of course he knew that Jackson was co-captain with Scott McCall. However, he disliked Scott a little more than he did Jackson. He would have to tolerate Jackson's name if he wanted to even get close to Danny. But he knew that the werewolf wouldn't be happy about Danny's choice in who he hangs out with. The chaos was actually quite amusing in Ethan's eyes. "Oh, right. Scott McCall..." He pretended to think about who Scott was. "He's friends with the kid who talks really loud, right? Stilinski was it?" Stiles Stilinski, the kid who spoke in class and it made Ethan want to roll his eyes. "I know next to nothing about lacrosse. Actually, I never knew sports could have co-captains." He decided to go with an innocent yet apologetic smile this time. "I'm a runner, cross country and track were more my thing and we only had a single captain at my old school."
Ethan easily picked up on the discomfort that Danny gave off when he took the other's Mac. He had to hold back the grin. He made the use quick, as to give the item back to its owner as quick as possible. "Don't remind me of his little crush on Lydia. He's horrible when it comes to girls, I swear." Ethan sighed and shook his head. His brother never struck out with a girl. No. His brother always got the girl he wanted in the end. He just didn't keep the girl long enough to actually grow attached. Him and his brother differed on that end. While Aiden loved to mess around and drop them, Ethan actually preferred real relationships. Not that he hadn't broken a bunch of hearts before.
The werewolf's attention turned to Danny when he let up a slip in words. Freudian slip. It actually made him smile. That was possibly the most adorable then that Ethan had heard someone say to him before. Some might think it absolutely creepy but Ethan found it endearing. He had his quirks about him, things he did that "normal" people didn't do. He liked things "normal" people didn't like. And Danny slipping up that he would have hunted down Ethan's facebook and twitter later... Well, Ethan wanted to tease the human on it, but decided against it.
Ethan didn't like when Danny left. His wolf whined and he actually felt a little anxious. He didn't even understand why. He didn't even know what was going on. He wanted to call Danny back. And he actually got up from his seat to chase after the human. But he was too shocked to move. He couldn't even breath. He was struggling with unfamiliar feelings that only left him when Danny returned.
The relief was welcome. Even his inner wolf settled back down and went back to being quite content. He was a lot more comfortable now, finally able to relax again. He wanted to protest relaxing but there was something comforting about Danny. "It's all in the mind. You just have to tell yourself to do it. Unless there's video games. Then not even I can win against that." He chuckled. "Of course, there will also always be other distractions that can tear my attention away from homework." He left that vague as he shrugged. There was a faint hint of a smirk on his lips. He just couldn't hide it.
Ethan didn't know whether to be excited or disappointed that Danny didn't have siblings. He knew a lot of people were only children and it really sucked. There was just something about having a sibling that made life better. "You're from Hawaii? Really? I've heard it looks like you stepped back in time in some places, like dinosaurs might come out and chase you." Let the act of childish innocent begin.
But he hummed at as he muttered the other's surname, "Full moon... Heavenly moon..." He let it play over his tongue. "You know, in many cultures, the moon is revered and worshiped. It's powerful. There's a tale that the moon and sun used to be lovers but the earth got jealous and separated them, never to be together. The moon, always wishing to be with her lover, convinced her followers to not just walk amongst her light but also in the light of the sun. To do both, she forever changed them. Amongst the day, they walk with humans and at night, they walk amongst her light. They are her children and a reminder of her lost lover." It had been an old legend that was passed down in his birth pack that he didn't really believe.
"Do you believe in werewolves, Danny? There's an old legend that werewolves used to be real wolves who looked out for man. They loved man dearly and envied everything they could do because the wolves knew they could never be them. So the wolf stood up and became man. He mimicked man, tried to behave like man, but it wasn't enough. Jealousy had them praying to the moon and asked for her to grant them the ability be human. The Moon took pity on them and granted their wish. Thus, the werewolf was born. It was a creature who could be both man and wolf." Ethan leaned back in his seat. "However, man grew jealous of not only the werewolf's strength but also its abilities. So man cast werewolf out of society. Never to return or fear being hunted by man." He glanced at the human to try to figure out what type of reaction the tale had on him. "Mahealani... It's fitting." Danny already had power over a wolf and he didn't even know it.
