Hayden couldn't say he wasn't slightly enjoying this man's company. He seemed calm, not too much in a hurry. It was a nice change from the company he usually kept. Not to mention, he couldn't deny it was nice having company. The diner was packed, but he couldn't help but feel it would have been lonely to sit there hearing all the conversations surrounding them and having no one to converse with himself.
Watching Alek shrug, seeming sheepish in response to his questioning, Hayden smirked. His smile grew wider as Alek chuckled, then replied. "No, no. Nothing of that kind. The work that I do is very involving, unfortunately, and as such, I have not have much of any chances to get out and truly enjoy what this quaint town has to offer.”
"Work, huh? What kind of work is that?" Hayden honestly wasn't very interested, but for the sake of conversation, he knew it was polite to seem interested. And if this guy could help him in anyway, might as well keep the conversation going until some useful information got leaked.
"It is odd, indeed. There are few places that I have heard of such attacks, and never in such high frequency, paired with such odd murders.”
"Yeah, man. I gotta say, it's a little off-putting. I mean, is there really that big of a cougar problem around here? Seems to me like there must be SOMETHING more going on than a rogue mountain lion. Don't ya think? Not to mention, random murders? In a small town like this? Seems fishy to me, is all. Like some creepy Children of the Corn cult or something."
Now they were getting somewhere. Guy wasn't such a waste of time after all. Now, all he needed was the right answers, and he'd have his heading. He'd know where to start looking for whatever it was that brought him here.
