So save yourself
Because the tide is rising high
It's sink or swim
It's hit or miss
What will you pick?

Emeric really just wanted to see all areas of the school. He still got a bit lost if he had to go to new places. Heck he just learned where the library was. He honestly should spend more time learning where everything was. It was why he decided today would be that day.
It had been a boring day at school. He got mocked at lunch, had his locker slammed shut on him... twice, and had a paper ball chucked at his head during biology. So maybe boring could be replaced by annoying. Perhaps it had something to do with him being new to the cooking club. Perhaps that was it? Or maybe because he joined the drama club. But didn't all schools like kids taking part in after school activities?
Em sighed as he tugged his backpack close as he wandered the halls. He had a small map in his hands that he was designing as he went. He needed it for days like this, so he knew exactly where he had been so he could go to places he had yet to explore. It's what lead him to the pool.
He hadn't expected the discovery. It actually frightened him. The water. He just stared at it as he placed his back against the wall. He was acting as if being within an inch of the water would kill him. He was finding it hard to breath, not without feeling like he was drowning.
He was fighting the urge to claw at his throat. He couldn't get oxygen. He closed his eyes tightly as he sunk to the ground. Air. Air. His body was crying for it, but it wasn't coming easily. He barely even registered that there was a voice talking to him, trying to get his attention.
