Approach Love and Baking with Reckless Abandon [Closed: Cam]

She released a nervous giggle at his comment about biting her. What was wrong with her?! Why was she so nervous around him? She had been around plenty of guys before, she even tutored a house full of fraternity boys. But here he was, a complete stranger tending to her self-inflicted wounds. Something about the mystery in his eyes and the handsomeness of his smile made her a little weak in the knees. When he commanded that she stop shaking, she had to take a moment to concentrate on doing so, since she didn’t even realize she was shaking as badly as she was. 

Taking a deep breathe, she let it out silently. She watched as he meticulous moved, seeming not to stumble over any actions. This was different for Emma, as she was almost ALWAYS stumbling over what she was going to do next. The metal made a POP noise as it release the clamp and the contents made soft sounds as he sorted through to find the cream. Finally, another one of those smiles crossed his lips and Emma felt herself smile too. When he spoke, she brought her eye back to his, listening very intently. When he grabbed her hand again, she had to mentally reprimand herself to keep from trembling again. 

Instinct told her to pull away her hand as the chilled ingredients spilled onto her hand. It was cold against her burning skin, but the movement of his hands against her seemed to mesmerize her into staying put. She bit her lip again and nodded as he spoke, agreeing with the comment about being cold. Her eyes went from the burn to his face and back again, never staying in one place too long. 

“Soo… do you always tend to the wounds of strangers Doc? Or did I just get lucky somehow?” she said jokingly, trying to ease the nervousness and electricity that ran through her.

Cameron's fingertips kissed her hand softly as he rubbed the cream in well enough that it wouldn't leave much of an oily feel behind. It'd take a few moments before completely soaking in. Taking another packet, he took hold of her other hand and did the same thing. Squeezing the cream onto it then gently rubbing it in. His eyes focused on her hand as he worked on it, only looking at her for a second when she asked him a question.

He looked puzzled for a moment, sucking in his bottom lip as he searched his mind for an answer before finding one. "I guess I just got lucky." He replied and not being able to help it in giving her a playful wink. Alright, he just now realized he might've been flirting with her a little but there was no harm in that, right? He had no one to answer to. He could flirt with whoever he liked even if they weren't a werewolf like him. Tough!

He honestly preferred not to mix himself up with a female werewolf. It could get too messy, especially if she wasn't born one and had been turned. A good variety of them didn't know how to control themselves under a full moon and if they were to attack him, he wouldn't hesitate to kill first hand. He wouldn't put up with that crap. Maybe that's why he was so prone to fall for human girls. Like Emma. Despite how clumsy she seemed to be. He kind of liked that about her. It was cute in a way. "So, back there... What was it that was burning?"

She was glad for his meticulousness, as he spent ample amount of time ensuring her burn was tended to. The motion of his rubbing the white magical lotion was almost as mesmerizing as the relief it brought to her aching hands. He would massage the lotion in one way and the change directions, making sure the wound absorbed as much of the healing magic as possible. His skin on his hands felt rough but their touch was almost as light as a feather and as gentle as a spring breeze. He never applied too much pressure or rubbed in a direction that would cause pain. So Emma sat gazing as his handy work.

She had finally steadied her heart rate when those blue eyes found hers. They had such intensity that she caught her breathe. Fortunately, a wink came within a short moment and the made Emma smile. A soft pink flooded her upturned cheeks and she silently curse at herself for such childish behavior. Sure, he was an incredibly handsome stranger who seemed to be funny and maybe, just maybe he was also incredibly sweet… but why was she behaving like a middle schooler?! 

Much to the frat boys she tutored dismay; Emma wasn’t really into the whole dating scene. She found it hard to relate to most guys her age, who would rather go to a party than do something with their lives. And while she only was a sophomore, she probably had more credits than most of them as well. She wasn’t the dating kind and all the boys knew it. So why was this boy any different?

She was busy scolding herself when his voice pulled her from her thoughts. A deeper red set in as the embarrassment took over. 

“Umm… my boss had put some cupcakes in the oven before she took her baby for a walk and um... well, you know the rest…” her eyes trailed to the floor and she didn’t want to face those intense blue eyes. They would surely have a look of mocking and she would be even more disheartened about learning to bake.

Cameron smiled, almost grinning at the sight of her glowing pink cheeks as he winked at her. Showing off his dimples as he smiled at her. She looked so cute when she blushed. Like a shy little school girl. It was adorable. Absolutely adorable. "Oh, I can imagine." He spoke as he continued to rub his fingertips into her hands gently. Once done, he closed the first aid kit and wiped his hands off on some napkins as he moved his coffee aside to get to them. He didn't want his hands feeling greasy and dropping his mug of coffee because of it slipping from his grip.

The disaster of the burning cupcakes couldn't be all that bad. Could it? He didn't think so but then again, he hadn't been back there to see how badly burnt they had gotten. All he could do was smell them and surmise how bad they looked. Burnt to a crisp. As she looked down, he cocked his head off to the side to try grabbing her gaze but not having much luck. "It couldn't be all that bad, could it?" He asked her.

Then he reached a hand out to her and slipped a finger underneath her chin, lifting her head to look into her eyes again. There they were. That was better. He grinned charmingly at her, quickly pulling his hand away and rubbing his chin in a thinking manner. "I think next time you should put gloves on before grabbing something hot from the oven." He told her as if he'd predicated what she'd done earlier.

When his hands relieved themselves from duty, reality sank in. Emma was at work and behaving like a foolish child in front of this complete stranger. Not only had she burnt the cupcakes, the first responsibility that Karlie had given her to do alone, but now she was being a bad waitress too. She was in the middle of a complete mental berating when the touch of his hand beneath her chin stopped any and all thoughts.

His touch was tender as her lifted her chin up so that their eyes could meet. Emma felt her heart stop as they locked eyes and that

handsome smiled crossed his face. She felt a flock of butterflies panic in her stomach and she swallowed hard when his hand returned to his own chin. When he made the joke about the gloves, Emma let out a laugh. Any genius could have put two and two together about the burned hands… well, except her. And even though it wasn’t really a laughing matter, the giggles continued to escape from Emma.

“Oh I had gloves…” she said smiling, pointing back to the counter where she had left them, “I just forgot to grab them.” She had to laugh to keep from crying, as if it wasn’t embarrassing enough that she burnt herself but that she did it out of sheer carelessness. Pushing back from the chair she stood up, taking his now cold coffee cup into her hands. “Let me get you some actually warm coffee and something tasty” she said making her way back to the counter. It was the least she could do.

"Oh, I see." Cameron nodded slowly then chuckled playfully. "I guess you'll learn next time, huh?" He had teased her with no intentions of being mean about it. Any other person he wouldn't have helped out like that and probably would've called them a 'fucking idiot' for not putting gloves on before grabbing something burning hot from the oven, especially something that happened to be burnt.

Listening to her giggle which he took as maybe out of nervousness due to the way he'd touched her chin to make her look at him, he grinned to himself, finding the whole thing quite amusing. It was cute in it's own way and the thought he could make her do that was just a reward of it's own. The sound of her heart pounding had caught his ear causing his own to pound in sync with hers.

As she grabbed his cup of now cold coffee and stood up, he went to open his mouth to speak but she was already heading to the counter with intentions of getting him some hot coffee and something tasty to eat. His lips pressed together feeling puzzled by her kindness as it wasn't something he was really use to with people but he had to say, he wasn't hating it.

If there were a grading system for waitresses, she would be receiving an F-. Not only did she hurt herself trying to do a simple tasks, she was also not being a waitress to her only customer. It was a wonder that she even loved being in a kitchen. But there was something she really loved about watching the dough rise and decorating the cupcakes with the dainty edible trinkets. She had watched Karlie do it so effortlessly and a deep-rooted fear sank in. She may never have the skill or talent that Karlie was looking for in an assistant baker, today just reaffirmed that. So the least she could do was be a decent waitress.

She wouldn’t give him the opportunity to decline her this, so she quickly rushed to the counter instead of asking if he wanted more. Turning her back to the handsome stranger, she dumped the cold brown liquid into the sink and set the cup down. “ So, what can I get you? Besides hot coffee.” She flashed him a quick smile over her shoulders before going on “ And I promise… I didn’t bake any of it”.

She turned around and smiled, reaching for a new cup and listening for a response.
