all about me
Lydia Martin is the most popular girl in school, she's loved by everyone and practically perfect in every way right? Wrong! On the surface, Lydia is fun and flirty. She's often sarcastic and generally dismissive to those she doesn't like or know. Lydia is more likely to ignore you than be cruel to you unless she has a reason to change her mind. Slowly, Lydia's intelligence is creeping to the surface despite the fact she's spent most of her life trying to hide it. She easily bored and its her cocky side coming to the surface that's allowing Lydia to show her worth. However, deep below the surface, Lydia's very damaged. She's scared of love and her own feelings, to the point she does her best to avoid them. She's never really felt love and acceptance so she takes those things in her popularity and tries to 'brush off' the affects of a real love or friendship for fear of them crumbling and it hurting her more.
history.
this is the story of my life
Lydia Martin was that child... The one that got everything she ever wanted. She lived in a big house and they had a pool and cleaners and more toys than a child could ever play with, it was her fathers way of making it up to his wife and daughters for never being around. Even at a young age, Lydia showed great talent and promise but lacked the intelligence required to truly nurture her gifts. In school she was growing smarter by the day but once she returned home she would pretend like it never happened. It was Lydia's first taste of popularity that changed her. It was nice to feel loved and appreciated but everyone seemed to just assume all she was, was a pretty face. She was too scared of being herself and losing everything to ever admit who she was so she kept lying to the world as well as herself. Her big sister was always good 'it', she was homecoming queen, prom queen, class president and dated the captain of the Lacrosse team... It was a legacy to their family, one that Lydia was expected to follow....
Despite an early resistance, Lydia slotted herself into the role she was supposed to take when she started dating Jackson Whittemore, that was the start for her, the start of her world turning on her head. Despite loving Jackson, it was his distance from everyone that cared about him and her fear of rejection that kept her quiet about it. She played her role like a professional, after all, that's what she was good at, being anyone BUT Lydia Martin. Her life was perfect... at least until Alison Argent came to town. Of course, that was the defining moment for Lydia - She wasn't aware about the other changes that came to Beacon Hills, she just knew that her life was slowly falling apart.
It was nice to Lydia to have a best friend, someone she could trust, but bad things seemed to follow them wherever they went from dead people in video shops, to being locked in the school with a homicidal maniac, the place she lived was turning scary! Once she lost Jackson, she lost a part of her though. Lydia couldn't admit it but losing him nearly killed her, she struggled to smile at the best of times and that got harder after the night she was attacked. Things weren't going according to plan, this wasn't her plan!!! It was hard enough being constantly terrified without the whole town thinking you were a nut job and your best friends keeping secrets from you.
There was something happening to Lydia, something that terrified her but she embraced because for the first time in her life... Lydia had felt important. She was needed. That's not to say that the things she'd done, she'd have done in her right mind, but that didn't change the fact Lydia liked feeling important and powerful. It quickly came crashing around her though... No sooner had she had to deal with bringing a psychopath back from the dead than she had to deal with losing Jackson. Seeing him dead was the hardest thing for her but things kept getting harder.... How many times can you love and lose someone? He was back, he held her in his arms and she told him that she loved him.... But the future is far from uncertain....
