"That sounds like a lot of work. But I am glad that its all working out for the best."
Kids. It still blew Preston's mind.
The drive down from the bluffs that overlooked the town was a lot longer now that the sun had gone down. Preston knew the dangers of driving at night on a bike. Animals would dart out into the middle of the road, other vehicles that would shine their brights in a place that particularly didn't need it, and not to mention he was not prepared for any sort of vampire attack. It was always in the back of his mind that a vampire would come looking for him. Wanting to finish the work on the James family. He was the last one.
Sure it was December, and it was cold, and looked like it was about to snow, and he was just about shivering on his bike, regardless of the especially warm man that was holding onto him as they drove down the road, but Preston wanted ice cream. It was his guilty pleasure, and no matter the time of the year, there was always time for ice cream. It was kinda cheesy, to take a date, even though at the beginning it was one sided, to parlor, but it was also cliche to go to the place where you met. And sure, coffee sounded great, and they should probably head that way, he wanted to step out of the norm, and away from his comfort zone. So good bye coffee, and hello tasty frozen dairy treat.
Preston pulled the bike into the parking lot of the ice cream shop and killed the engine to the bike. Its slow lull to lifelessness drawing him back down from the heaven that was Pedro holding onto him. It was so easy around him. Even the whole him being a hunter, even with all of Pedro's special circumstances, went so much smoother than expected. "So, I know its cold and all, but," he started as he swung his leg off the bike and standing to his feet, "ice cream is my guilty pleasure."
His body almost fought the mention of the ice cream in protest, shivering, but he shoved his hands into his pockets sheepishly, a smile reaching the corner of his mouth. Like he was a kid, waiting for permission before acting. He hoped that he would be able to more forward in the future, and less like an awkward teen.
