Preston felt so happy that he could float away. It was a good thing that Pedro was still holding him, keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground. The kiss was a mix of emotions for Preston. He wanted to keep it going, but he knew that he would never stop, and he had learned a little bit of self control from watching those in relationships that just crashed and burned.
He didn't want to experience that, or any form of heartbreak. Pedro was still crying, and Preston felt that it was mostly his fault. He was raised not to trust any creature, but he had never heard a report, or a file that deemed merfolk as a dangerous type. It was most his predetermined nature after seeing so many different things.
As he held Pedro close, he thought about what he would have done a few years previously. He would have shot first, and asked questions later. He would have hunted the offspring, and wiped them out as well, just to make sure that there was no retaliation, and not even blinked twice. It wasn't until he had met a few werewolves, who only wanted to open a shop, grow their family, where he started to question the whole shoot first, ask questions later philosophy. e had a gun pointed at the mother of the two kids, both who were wolves, and his hands started to shake. He had made a promise to not break families up. and here he was, about read to send almost an entire family to the grave.
"I want you to want this. No secrets. Just 100 percent trust, and honesty." It was a lot to ask of another person, especially with someone who had a past as thick as his, but if he was asked, he would answer anything. Preston would give Pedro an all access pass to his past.
"So kids huh?" His tone was playful, as he tried to lighten the mood from the heavy. Kids. That was going to be bigger for him to deal with than the merfolk thing. He had always thought that his life would be a bit too hectic for kids, that he would just be the really cool neighbor guy that would start a block party, and invite all the families, never having a family of his own, he fear what kind of parent he would also be? Would they end up the same way that he did, parent-less, due to the job, passed around like an unwanted blanket. "So tell me about them."
