POWERS AND ABILITIES
TELEPATHIC: The ability to read others minds. Avery’s version of it is everyone’s thoughts flooding into her head all at the same time. She hates that and so she dulls it with doing drugs and drinking all the time. When she’s high and drunk it acts like a muffler, silencing the sounds for however long the drugs and alcohol are in her system. She’s never been trained to use them and she doesn’t like people knowing. Avery has been known to use it when she makes her deals, to see what the person might really need and make sure they’re not a cop.

all about me
The world has always said “never judge a book by its cover”, and that is exactly what you shouldn’t do with Avery Lancaster. She is quite the little firecracker if she ever has to be. Brutal honesty is one of her specialties, do not expect her to ever sugarcoat anything for you. Why should she spare your feelings when she doesn’t really care what you think of her? Maybe that’s why she’s so cautious with who she hangs out with, because she’s always terrified that everyone is going to end up leaving her just like everyone else she ever cared about. Adventurous is probably the one word that can sum up Avery. If you ask her to jump she’ll say how high; if you tell her to jump in the river she’ll ask if she has to keep her clothes on. In all honesty she puts up a front that she doesn’t care what happens to her but in all actuality it is a front that keeps her sane. Far too long she lived in this fear, this bubble that nothing was ever going to be right. Now that she is finally comfortable in her own skin she isn’t going to let anyone change that, not even herself.
What makes this girl such a good drug dealer and still be unable to be caught by the cops? Simple really. She’s smart, intuitive, and manipulative when she has to be. How do you think she can take such goodie two shoe individuals and crack them enough to buy her goods? It has been quite a long time for her to finally get to where she is now and it has been a long time coming with plenty of practice. Of course, there can’t always be just good things about a person, Avery herself has many many flaws. She is quick to anger and very arrogant about most things in life. No one’s ever really given her a chance so she doesn’t expect anyone to ever do so. Her inability to trust anyone is something that gets in the way with pretty much any relationship or friendship she’s ever had. As hard as she might try she will always have this nagging feeling in the back of her brain that they’re going to bolt if they knew what she could do. The only way she can deal with any of her emotions are drugs, alcohol, and sex. All three of them are her security blanket, her comfort zone that helps her get through the day. Without it she would be a big ball of emotional craziness that would be a harm to herself and society. No one things that someone so small could be dangerous, well they have obviously never met Avery Lancaster before.
history.
this is the story of my life
The beginning of young Avery Cheyenne Lancaster’s life was just like the fairy tales. She had a mother and father who loved her very much and were just happy to finally add to their little family with their four year old son, Matteus. There was nothing their rosy cheeked little girl couldn’t have and they raised her to be a well rounded individual. Life seemed pretty perfect for the happy family, but once upon a time can only last for so long. Avery was about five years old when strange things started happening. It started out with little whispers that the young child didn’t understand. Any time she would ask it was frowned upon. Both of her parents pretended like it didn’t happen, that there was nothing wrong with their child. Her father just never spoke of it, not even to his wife, but Beth Lancaster blamed herself. The more things her young daughter would tell her and answer the questions that everyone was thinking the more she would feel herself falling into a deeper hole of craziness. It was not easily spoken that her mother herself had the ability to read people’s minds, and she felt it was her fault that her child was showing signs of it. Eventually Beth Lancaster finally had a mental breakdown, her ability to control her own telepathy overcome by her emotions and guilt she tried to drown the young girl. Something snapped and the mother felt it was the only way she could make her own voices stop and that her child wouldn’t suffer. Luckily Matteus and their father came home at that time, quickly pulling the five year old out of the bathtub. Avery’s father finally had to have Beth locked up in a mental institution where she’s still at today.
For years their father tried to be the single parent, dealing with a child who knew exactly what he was thinking no matter what and a son who almost felt second best. Avery never wanted it to be about her and she would much rather people didn’t even notice her. Most of the time she was locked up in her room, kept from the world so that she didn’t have to hear their thoughts. That’s what she eventually realized what it was. They never talked about their mother, she was the thing that was never spoken of. She was about fourteen years old when Matteus brought home drugs for the first time. She knew he had done it for a while but this was the first time he actually brought it near her. One night she took a few of his pills, just to see what it was like and that’s when the voices stopped, that’s when she knew how to shut them up! Now it was her regular, getting high or drunk with Matteus’s friends. He never seemed to mind having her around and in all honesty she liked knowing her big brother was watching out for her. She was sixteen when she realized all that was beginning to change, that something was wrong with Matteus.
It was a brisk day when the unthinkable happened, something that to this day no one could’ve foreseen. Avery had gotten out of school and went home just like normal. Her father was at work so that just left her brother to be at home. Something wasn’t right though, Avery could tell that as soon as she walked into the house. The normal greetings she would get as she walked in the door were nonexistent. The TV in the living room wasn’t on, there was no physicality that anyone was there and upon inspection her brother was still in bed. Avery had thought perhaps he was just sick, that he had a bad trip and was just trying to sleep it off As her slender hand touched him in an attempt to wake him she realized that it was very wrong, that her brother was as cold as ice. The next couple days are like a blur for her, a blackout that she refuses to ever go through. She was far too young to have to deal with something so traumatizing. Her father has never looked back at her the same way after that. Perhaps he blames his daughter for his only son’s death, or maybe he just angry she didn’t find a way to help him with her telepathy. Either way they would have the minimal conversations until all their questions were answered and Avery never felt more alone in the entire world.
Now she was getting heavily into drugs, drinking, sex, anything to make the pain stop and the voices at bay. Avery had grown to accept that anyone she ever cares about would always end up leaving her in one form or another. One of Matteus’s friends always stuck with her the entire time and eventually got her the hookup on drugs. He was the one that got her to start dealing, and dealing heavily into the world of drug trafficking. Who would suspect the sweet innocent little girl to be the one doing all the illegal stuff. As the years went by her clientele grew, showing her that this was her calling. Avery always kept high enough to keep an edge off on her powers, but not too fucked up that she couldn’t be good at her job. The only time she was ever sober enough was when she would cheat and use her power of telepathy to check on new clients, making sure they weren’t narks or cops. Far too many times has she had a close call and had to cover her tracks. There is one boy that’s slowly getting under her skin, in a good way. He’s something so new to her and she can’t help herself. He is her own version of a drug that she wants to see through to the end. Avery isn’t scared of many things and most of the time she tries to cover it up. But has this girl learned that covering things up is only going to get you in more trouble? Nope.
