Moira snatched up what looked like a crusty old brick, smashed the back window, then climbed in quickly. She cringed as the broken glass scratched up her arms and shaking hands. She tried to land softly, but it was hard to do so in a hurry. Moira looked around warily...She needed somewhere to hide.
She made sure the coast was clear, then continued into the other room and down a hallway. She found a small walk in closet, and proceeded to hide inside. It was extremely small, but she squeezed in, and held onto the lone broom that occupied the closet. It wasn’t the best weapon, but it was all she had. She tried to control her unsteady breathing. He wouldn't follow her in...would he?
Moira shuddered as she remembered his dark, hungry eyes. Taking a leaf out of Mollie’s book and getting a gun permit and a gun was starting to seem more and more like common sense rather than mild paranoia. She should have thought about it after meeting Mollie that night in the woods, but though she had heard of all the creatures from her aunt, she hadn’t realized just how dangerous they were until now. She didn’t want to hurt anyone, but today had been way too close. Then again, if she'd only followed her instincts instead of her heart, she wouldn't even be here.
Soon Moira couldn’t tell if it had been minutes, or if she’d been here for hours. She was hungry, weak, and her legs ached from sitting down. Casting that spell to slow down the boy had taken a toll on her, so much that now she couldn’t even use what little focus she had left to heal all her cuts and scratches. She had no clue what to do next. Her first plan had been to search the house for a phone to call her aunt for help, but it was a terrible plan if she wanted that boy to come out of this situation alive. Moira shifted uncomfortably. He would’t still be outside now, would he? It was more likely he had wandered back into the woods to find some other, easier prey, right?
...Alright. So she would get out of this confined space, look out of the window(all the while avoiding anyone who lived here), and if he wasn’t there, she’d find her way back to her car and drive home. If he was there, though…well, she’d think of something. It wasn’t the most thought out plan, but she had to do something. She couldn’t hide forever.
Moira stood up, cringing as she did so. Broom still in hand, she slowly twisted the door handle and stepped out into the hall. She listened carefully for anyone in the house. With no one in sight, she crept into the kitchen, where she swapped her broom for a sharp knife, crossing her fingers that she wouldn’t have to use it. She peeked out of the window carefully. There was no sign of him out back, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t there.
Quietly as she could manage, Moira began sneaking to the other room to get a better view, when her eyes landed upon a jar of cookies. Her stomach rumbled. They were chocolate chip too, and Moira found herself reaching for the jar. 'No no no, focus!' Part of her mind argued, but she ignored it, pulling out a cookie and chomping it down. It tasted downright amazing, though most things did when one was extremely hungry. Besides, no one would notice if a few cookies went missing.
There was a shuffling noise at the front door, then it opened. Moira froze, her hand reaching for another cookie. All the movement at the door stopped too.
Without a second thought, Moira jumped into action and flew towards the back door, but someone had beat her to it. A girl stood in her way, her dark brown hair long and her eyes fierce. Moira backed away from her nervously. How had she got there so fast?! She turned around to run in the opposite direction, only to find the girl now blocking her path from that direction."Uh, hi?" She said with a weak smile. The girl stared at her. Moira gulped.
This was not good.
