So here's your chance
To fly or fall
To take a stand and show it all

He really had been meaning to keep his head down and just go about the school day without attracting the attention of either of the twins. He was getting better at it, but they were just so irritating. He just wanted to take them down a peg. If he could just do that... Then they would stop messing with him. He just knew it.
But today was not the day he took them down a peg. No. Today he walked away with less injuries than last time, yes. But everything still hurt. Werewolf or not, he wasn't exactly a fan of getting the crap beaten out of him. It didn't matter if the twins would say he had it coming because he easily snapped when they pushed the right buttons.
His sides hurt the most. Or perhaps it was his leg that looked like it was twisted at a weird angle. Alright, he figured it was hand that looked like it had started to swell after Ethan stomped on it when walking away. That one took the cake in pain. And just thinking about the injuries was both calming and alarming. It was a reminder he was alive, yes. He told himself that all the time growing up with his father. But it was alarming because they hurt.
He slung his backpack over his shoulder, the feeling of books hitting his back reminding him of the past. He could handle this, his mind screamed at him. He could handle this. He simply wiped his mouth with his sleeve. The only nice thing was school was over with so he didn't have to worry about being found by the entire school. He didn't need another trip to the hospital. He was done with them, if he could help it.
Pain shot through his leg as he took his first step. He didn't hear the whimper that left his lips until a voice spoke up and disturbed his thoughts. Sounds and smells of his surroundings finally flooded back into his senses, his body becoming a little more alert.
