PERSONALITY
Carter is the type of girl who isn't afraid to open her mouth. She's outspoken and tells the truth like it is. She isn't one of the girly girls, but she can be if she needs to be. Carter also has a sweet side, but she rarely shows it because she's afraid if she does then people won't take her seriously. Carter is usually seen around Beacon Hills and would love to go to school, except well of the whole burning issue that she has. Carter was surprised to find that her family didn't hate her once they found out that she was well undead. Carter will do anything for the sake of her family. She doesn't like when anyone messes with them and she will defend them to the end of time.
Carter is also the following of these words.
HEADSTRONG - Carter is a very will-driven person. She does things because she wants to, not because someone else wants her to. Likewise, if someone tries to get her to do something she doesn't want to do, she will fight them tooth and nail. This has gotten her into trouble on countless occasions.
STUBBORN - This goes hand in hand with being headstrong. Even if she is wrong when stating what she thinks is a fact, she will not believe the correct answer until it is proven more than once. She refuses to change her mind, even under constant torment.
SARCASTIC - Carter and sarcasm are two peas in a pod. She has a very sarcastic sense of humor, and often has to explain to others that she is only joking when she says something sarcastically. She makes no attempt to sugarcoat her sarcasm. If she is genuinely bored and someone asks her if she's excited, she won't whoop to cheer them up. She'll whoop in a lifeless voice to drive her point across.
WITHDRAWN - Carter is reluctant to warm to others. She has taught herself to be accustomed to seclusion, and even enjoys it. She feels more free to be herself when she doesn't have to be afraid of what her "friends" might think. She doesn't need friends to lift her up, nor drag her down. She is happy being by herself. But that doesn't necessarily mean that that one special person won't come along and prove that this statement is wrong.
HISTORY
Carter was born in Liverpool, England. That was where she grew up, under a near-constant cover of clouds. Her first few years passed by as little more than a blur. Her parents were always gone, working in the dockyard near a mile away. They left Carter with older children that lived on the block. These children weren't well-mannered, as all of them had lived through poor upbringing. Every day, Carter's ears were pierced by constant swears and foul-mouthing. The children were absolute angels around her parents, however. That was why they could never figure out how Carter's first word could have been so vile.
As soon as she was old enough to walk, her babysitters took her out in the alleyways. It was a good thing Rae wasn't claustrophobic, as the streets and back roads were closed in by thick walls of brick. As she grew, her older friends went off to college. Though she grew up in a poor neighborhood, there was no shortage of children. Nevertheless, Rae didn't enjoy conversing with kids her own age. It was older, or nothing. Most of he kids at that time were either in their cradle, or Carter's age. With no one to talk to, she began exploring the docks.
Her parents caught her once when she was nine. She had been up in the rigging of one ship, swinging around. They had appeared out of nowhere, red-faced and scowling. Carter had known she was in trouble as soon as she saw them, but she refused to come down. Her father had to climb up and grab her, nearly dislodging both of them in the process. Once they were back at the house, Carter got a very firm lecture about venturing out onto the docks all by oneself. They said that she shouldn't be climbing on boats that didn't belong to her. Needless to say, Carter heard none of this. She simply stared at her father as he continued to turn into a tomato, biting back laughter.
From that point on, her antics on the dock were done beneath her parents' radar. She was careful to avoid them at all costs, though this helped to increase the distance between them. They were speaking less and less at dinner, and her parents were beginning to worry. Though they were somewhat detached from their daughter, they had noticed that she didn't have any friends. They were considering moving into a more densely populated area, but could not afford to. They were waiting, biding their time and saving their money. Then, when Carter turned 14, she decided she'd had enough.
Carter then walked the streets for a long time before finding her way to America. She found herself in Beacon Hills. For the first few years everything was peachy, she would attend school and then go back to her flat. One night as she was strolling though, she found herself being attacked. She didn't remember what was going on, but when she awoke, she had a deep thirst for blood. When Carter went to go feed on some blood however, she found herself in a frenzy. In what seemed a miracle, she was taken in by a family who understood what she was going through, and helped her to get past the use of human blood and start feeding on animals instead.
Carter then started to search for whoever had changed her. Finally finding them she started to stay with them as well. She didn't join in on their hunts of humans, but opted to hunt animals instead. Carter doesn't like what she has done in the past, and so she tries to move on. Carter goes back and forth between the family that took her in and the nest, she doesn't have the heart to just up and leave the family that helped her through her tough time. This..is Carter..
